Protein Shots??????

I was just wondering if any of you have tried the protein shots. If so where did you get them and how do they taste? Thank you, Katherine

I have heard from a few people and a dietitian that the protein shots are not the right protein and nutricion is not good for Wls patients

Dee, thank you for your reply. I too thought that that may be the case until my surgeon told me that there was no problems with the protein shots and that they would be a great way to be sure that I get all my protein since I am very limited as to what and how much I can take in. I for some odd reason only can take in about a tablespoon per meal and due to having 8 strictures I struggle to get more than a sip of water to go down at a time. Most of my intake gets thrown up so protein shots are my surgeons suggestion and I am trying to find out how to get some. Katherine

Hey If your surgeon say go for it I say look online maybe try best price nutricion i don't know if they sell them but they have teh best price for syntrax which is what I use. Good luck to you I hope you find something that works.

I think I know what you are talking about. If you are talking about the protein that is like 2 oz. and some have 27 or 42 grams of protein in them.. Well I have tried a couple different ones. I have bought some from Barix clinic. and they were alright...not the best but for 2oz. of liquid I just drank it down. But I also have bought some from GNC and I think I am allergic to those...my face got itchy after drinking them...it only lasted like 1 hour but every time I do them my face itches...but the same for taste...Right after I got out of surgery I was taking the bullets and mixing them up with a banana and that seems to help....

I think you are referring to Profect (http://www.profect.com/). They are 2.9 oz. and have 25 grams of carbs in each. They aren't horrible, especially since you get as much protein as in any other drink, but they are only 3 oz. as opposed to 12 or 20. They are not anywhere near as good as Jello shots , but for our purposes, they are worth trying. Good luck. shana
