Well, I CONTINUE to mystify my Doctor!!

Well it seems that I just continue to be a freak of nature and mystify my doctor. He found something yet again yesterday that he has never seen before. So he separated my remnant stomach from the abdominal wall and removed whatever scar tissue and adhesions were there. He said that it was inflammed also, not to bad but definitely not normal. So then the part he's never seen before.........on the part of the bowel that the pouch empties in to, I had a bunch of white patchy looking splotches, like plaques I guess. They said it's normal for people's intestines to have one here or there but not in the concentration with which I had them in that one area. They were very concerned about this and none of them had ever seen it before. So they took some samples to send off to find out what it is. They DO know now it is not an infection. My surgeon is speculating that it may be fungal, but is not quite sure at this point. He is going to put me on Diflucan in the meantime until they get an official word back about what it is. He said that if it is fungal, it could be what is causing the pain so he would hope the meds would work. He again told me that I continue to stump him with all this stuff that he's never seen before. He IS going to get to the bottom of it that's for sure. As for everything else, I'm still in lots of pain, but they are giving me two different pain meds to help combat the pain. They are shooting for Monday to try and send me home. We'll see what happens! At least FINALLY there was something found that they can possibly DO something with and FIX. My surgeon has been great...........sticking with me when he didn't know what to do and was willing to keep looking when everything else was coming up at a dead end.........and when frankly, a lot of surgeon's would've given up on me. Thank God he didn't. Anyway, thank you all for being here for me through yet ANOTHER round of "What's wrong with Allie." It really does mean a lot to me. Oh Allie, I hope this time they finally get to the bottom of your problems and fix them once and for all. It sounds hopeful and that's a good thing. Thank God for your surgeon not giving up on you and for your strength to hang in there until they figure out what's going on. Will continue to keep you in my prayers! {{{Hugs}}}

The Deeply Mystifying Allie That's your new nickname! I am so sorry you had to have another surgery, but I am glad that this time they at least resolved some issues and perhaps found the root of the problem on your intestines. Allie, I'm so glad your surgeon has been so great. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of this now! May that be your last surgery, so you can go back to living a normal life now.
