Hi Amy, I am doing pretty well, albeit losing slower than most but I am fine with that, it was never a race I eat about 800 to 1200 calories a day, usually right around 950 to 1000. Protein mostly, sometimes a little bit of zucchini or a few bits of lettuce, or some occasional fruit. I eat a lot of beef jerky, cottage cheese, chili, sashimi, string cheese, soy crisps from Trader Joes. I also like trader joe's vegan frozen foods and morningstar brand, tofu being something that I really like and prefer to eat. My protein comes in around 70 to 85 grams a day. For breakfast I treat myself to one 8 ounce mug of real honest to goodness coffee with a little half and half and splenda, along with my Trader Joe's (Zen Bakery) fiber cake. It helped a great deal with regularity, lol. And I do my 8-10 glasses of water a day, along with walking around 10-12 miles a week. How about you? What's your info? Inky

dang girl, you're doing so good! Im ashamed to say that i have no idea how many calories/carbs/protein a day im getting. Am i suppose to be keeping track of this?? Can you tell i dont have a NUT? ...nor have i been required to or even suggested to have one. Do you all keep track of this for your own personal self? ...or does your surgeon require this? I often wonder sometimes whether im doing something wrong. Everyone on this board seems to have been told to have so much of this and that, and my doc doesnt even want me drinking protein shakes! ...its very confusing! Anyway, you are doing amazingly well Inky! I envy you and you are obviously dedicated! You Go Girl!!!

Hi Sharyn, Thanks, I don't always feel like I'm doing good when I see other people's zippy weight loss, but I have to remember I was always a slow loser - which is why other diets discouraged me, at least now the pouch rules my life so it's easier. Keeping track is pretty easy, I use sparkpeople.com or also fitday.com is another one. both are free. I only saw the NUT before surgery, my insurance doesn't cover it afterwards and I can't afford it right now, so I read a lot and my surgeon gave me info at my 3 month check up. He doesn't require tracking, but it's the best way for me to stay on track and I think will be very helpful in maintenance later on. He did say I should be having about 1000 to 1200 cal per day and wanted me to up my protein to the 70-80 range. I don't do protein shakes either. Hated them from the beginning and was very happy when food was able to give me the right protein grams. It is confusing, and I too always feel like this is wrong or I should do something another way, especially when the pounds aren't falling off as fast as I'd like. But, ultimately, as long as the numbers are going down (even after some hormonal ups and downs each month), then I'm satisfied. I do appreciate my little pouch telling me I'm full, lol. Thanks for the uplifting post though, it makes me feel happy. Inky

I try to keep things around 8-900 calories per day, with 80-90g of protein. I avoid carbs like the plague - only 50g or less per day. Mostly it's protein shake for breakfast, cottage cheese and chicken salad for lunch, and some type of meat & beans mixture for dinner. A few well timed snacks of cheese cubes or baked parmesean or asiago cheese chips and that's all I can get down. I have to keep the nuts out of sight - can eat 2 oz of peanuts without paying attention - 340 calories and way too much fat for this former big guy.
