going bald

I started losing hair at 2 months post-op, it looks like it may be slowing down a tad now. Endocrinologist said it happens, there's nothing you can do about it, and it'll stop the same way it started within 6 months or so. Thankfully I had plenty to begin with and I'm the only one who notices...

Thank you all...I feel better... my hair is short already but I can't leave my hands out of it...and it is falling out for sure. I really need to get more protein so perhaps we can talk about that too... How is everyone getting that protein.? Camai

From what I hear, it slows down around the 8 month mark. Since I've cut mine totally short, I don't notice it as much. However, when I get out of the shower, and it is wet, I totally see through to my scalp. I've been taking Biotin about 2 mo. pre-op and selinium. I also still use the protien shakes, cuz I know I can't eat that much protien in any given day! I agree that this is just one of those frustrating phases we all have to deal with.

I have wanted to post this problem too. I had really thick hair that went to my waist when I went in to surgery. I have spent many days crying because of the handfuls of hair that I lose in the shower as well as the fact that all day long I have people picking hair off of me. They all look at me like I have a disease. Last Saturday I woke up and realized that the bald spots were getting larger. I always look at the hair that falls out and get frustrated at the fact that the entire follicle is still attached, so I went and had my hair cut in a modified bob that is jawline length. People have said that they really like it and I can only say I HATE IT but Thank you. I love the fact that I am starting to feel much better and that even though I have been stalled as far as the scale goes for 8 weeks I am continuing to see my clothes get bigger and bigger. I guess as I look around the patients in the bariatric center I really don't see many that have long hair.... I guess that I should have noticed that 4.5 months ago and really digested that there was probably a reason why that is.... Hang in there and know that you are not the only one that has had to swallow that fact that as you get thinner...so does your hair.
