Visit with my endocrinologist

I am almost five months post RNY and I saw my endocrinologist today. My HA1C was higher than it was three months ago. She doesn't think I am going to get off insulin completely. She thinks I am not "a true Type II Diabetic". She said if I was, my diabetes would have resolved already. She said I am not totally a Type I either because I can go a few hours without taking insulin without getting deathly ill. I am really disappointed as I had hoped on getting off the insulin. I am down 55 pounds. I am down from a size 18 to a size 10. I guess I'll get over it. I just feel bad right now. Hillary

While we would like all our health issues to just go away, sometimes they can't. Try and focus on all the positives you have going on-Like a size 10-WOW!! Keep it up and maybe it will resolve itself down the road.

I'm sorry Hillary, but things change so quickly with diabetes, all is not lost!

Hi Hillary, Contrats on your loss of 55 pounds - and wearing a 10!! wowza. I'm sorry that your diabetes is not resolved, but things may still change. I had hoped to be off my blood pressure med after surgery like so many people, but here i am at four months out, still taking the same dose, but at least it's controlling it now completely. I am hopeful for my October appointment to get off the med, and will pray that you get good news in the future too. Hugs, Inky
