well i havent posted in some time but i need to vent. Yesterday i went in for my 4 month check. I did not have a 3 month check due to the fact that i had gotten sick. I am 4'10 in height and started out at 203lbs. My surgery was on 4/30 and as of today i am 149 lbs, down 54lbs. My doctors goal is for me to be at 115lbs. So i have lost more than half of the 88lbs i am expected to loose. I have gone from a size 16/18 in pants to a loose size 12. I was so happy with my loss at this point until yesterday. I went to the doctor and was seen by the new doc in the clinic and the first thing i hear is that i am not loosing weight fast enough, that i should be at 140 by now not 150 and that people in the clinic have told my doctors that they have seen me eating candy. I was so freaking mad!!!!! i wasl ike what!!! how dare anyone go tell my doctor anything that i do. And the fact that my weight loss goal was 88 lbs anf i have lost 54lbs to me was great but man after my appointment i cried and was upset all night. It made me feel like a failure and the good feeling about the new clothes went away and i felt like a big fat looser. it really upset me big time. Yeh i have had a piece of candy every now and then but heck who doesnt? the surgery was a tool, not a quick fix and if you get a craving for chocolate why not eat a piece not a whole bar but damn a piece every now and then.... i am so mad. i felt like i have been doing great but now feel so bad

I would be very upset about that too. It is your doctors job to encourage you and give you tips to help you if he feels you aren't doing things the way they want. I think it's ridiculous that he would accuse you of eating candy instead of just asking in a polite way. If they are concerned he went about things way wrong. You are doing great and since you didn't have hundreds to loose you will loose much slower than some of us and that's just how it goes. You are only 34lbs away from were he wants you to be you can easily do this within a year from surgery you still have 8 months. I think you need to ignore that appointment to some extent and continue to know you are doing fantastic.

I agree that was uncalled for telling your doctor you eat candy. Is this a pre-school clinic? Do they think you aren't adult enough to admit you are eating something that isn't the best choice? ugh!! Ok, now go show them who's the boss and at your 6 month appointment kick ass with another 20 pounds off - that's 10 a month, totally doable Congrats on your loss, I would be very proud of yourself and don't let them get you down!

I think that I would report that idiot doctor to your surgeon. He doesn't need to be in that clinic. You are doing fantastically well. My Lord! What difference does it make if you ate some candy!!! Forget about him and concentrate on your own pleasure at wearing small sizes and looking good. You know how well you are doing...I've learned in 57 years of living that you if you feel good about yourself and know you are doing well - and you know you are - then that's all that matters. Marcia

Have they heard of the HIPPA LAW? Could sue them over this.. I'm serious here.Where is your patient confidentiality? u have a eating disorder which is a medical condition .. they have violated u big time!!!! your weight is not a open topic for discussion period.. the fact they talked amoung others in the clinic u had WLS is a violation of your patients right Period!!! Just because they work in office does not give them the right to gossip over your medical records..I cannot talk about patient I picked up to a fellow emt unless it has direct matter to them specifically at the time. We would be fired so fast .. if we did.. Good luck and by the way 54 lbs is alot to lose and congradulation on your weight loss.. I would be jumping for joy if i had lost 54 lbs Lisa

Lisa is correct regarding the HIPAA laws and trust me when I say there are serious consequences for not following them to the "T" It is none of their damn business what you eat!! This is your tool and you need to use it the way that makes you comfortable. I am not near perfect as far as avoiding the bad foods!! I have carb issues and you know that I will have some form of them every now and again. How fast or how slow you lose the weight is a personal decision, and no one else should judge. BTW 54 pounds sure sounds like alot when you only needed to lose 88!! I find that the less you have to lose the slower it tends to come off. Take it easy on yourself, I would say that at 150 you are already a winner!! ((((((HUGS))))))

I had surgery 4/16/07 and was 202.5 and today I am 149. I had my surgery two weeks ahead of you and I have lost the same amount as you. I think it's great that you are down 54 pounds. Don't feel bad. I think you are doing great and you must feel good to have a size 12 pants feel loose. I am sorry they made you feel bad but don't let them drag you down. You are doing great. Hillary
