Self-Control... Worried

Hey there, do NOT despair. It's OK to eat a lean cuisine. They have fewer than 300 calories, and are fairly nutritious. Don't worry about that! I too am drinking espresso once or twice a day, but I don't see it as a problem. You are doing just fine-80 lbs. is a LOT of weight and the surgery IS working for you. That being said, my head's still not caught up, either. I fear failure because I failed so many times with diets before. It's a long road ahead, and our habits and thought patterns take a long time to change. Just yesterday I ate a piece of cake because I was stressed out, which is my old coping mechanism that I still fall back on now and then, unfortunately. However, in the old days I would have eaten the entire cake. This time I ate a small piece, threw the rest away, and moved on. I'm grateful that I physically can't eat an entire pizza any more when I feel sad-I'm having to find better ways to deal with things. But, whenever I slip up, I forgive myself and move on. It's all part of the process. We can get through this together-just be patient with yourself!

been there done that for sure!!! I can eat sugar so if I want a cookie I can, and I do. What I have learned is I can have 1 cookie and be satisfied and done! That never ever happened before. I also now prefer protein bars for the chocolate crave. I eat the zone perfect chocolate and peanut butter to me it taste like a whatchamacallit. I eat carbs I lived on them the first 3 months because not many things settled well in my belly. But I eat smaller quantities. I eat a whole weigh****chers spicy schewan with chicken almost every day at lunch. I think you are doing quite well! You can do this! You are not a pig!! Cheer up we are here for you!!!! Dee

I;m with you on that DEE! I love the south beach protein bars. they have 19 grams of protien, and I'm actaully full after I have eaten one! I think we all are at a point where we can eat more than when we first had surgery. Personally, I am scared to death to have anything carbonated. The thought of stretching my pouch makes it very easy to stay away (and i used to drink a 12 pk of diet coke a day!!!). Since I recently was released to a full menu, I too have been tempted to try some of my old favorites again. but, I have found that if i wait and think about it, after awhile, I no longer want it. I also agree that you shouldn;t call yourself a pig. You are a gorgeous and determined woman! You will win this battle! What ever venting you need to do, great. LET'R RIP!!!!! We are all behind you 150%!

If you are already seeing that you are going into old habits...then you are already on the right track. I would say coffee is ok as long as you drink plenty of water. But the soda isnt good for you. especially at this stage. carbonated beverages can expand the new stomach. So if you can, try to stay away from them. Dont feel like a pig because your eating a Lean Cuisine....its like everyone else said, they arent that bad. I noticed you are in Long Island. I live in Long Island too, so if you ever want to meet or trade numbers to be each others support it would be great. Tricia
