I was reading the weekly weight in and I did notice that a few people were reporting great blood pressure and lower cholestrol that is awesome .. Since all of u know I am not losing very fast but I have made some great health milestones my cholestrol was 285 before surgery and after surgery I am now 160 and off vytorin and my fasting blood sugar is 110 and use to be 180 and my A1C is 5.8 and use to be 8.0 Thanks for reminding me that it is not all about pounds lost but it is for better heath and I am achieving that. I must be doing something right even if the pounds r not just falling off by pounds but rather by ounces right now . Oh for Subday weight in I am 241.4 and with aunt flow so I did not gain when she showed up to town .. so to me this is a good sign .. I usually pop up to 245 to 246 when she shows up Since surgery 9 lbs and total loss from april 1 07 is 23 lbs and from my highest weight of 295 is 54 lbs gone for good .. 54 lbs not bad .. u know how many can of criso that is ? That answer is 18 cans. how many cans of criso have u lost? LOL or if i put that in ounces 864 lost in ounces.. I maybe the slowest loser but at least I am losing and not gaining I keep telling my self I could be 263 to 264 this am .. but I was 241 and that is something to brag about when I put it into perspective and look at my cholestrol and blood sugar .. all r down hugs to all my fellow april surgery date team members Lisa

Lisa, You are not doing that bad. You and I, I believe, are the only ones that are on this forum that have had lapband. I have only lost 47 lbs. I was at 241 this morning also and I was at 288 when I had surgery. I am loosing very very slow. And as far as the other I think we are on the same cycle. Every time you write something about it, I am usually right there with you. I just try to keep positive and keep telling myself that it's better for it to come off slow. (that's my way of not getting depressed about the lack of weight loss this last month) Just hang in there. There are a lot of excellant benefits I have noticed so far. My hips don't hurt like they use to (my husband LOVES that). I am not as tired and sick feeling as I use to be. As far as the actual medical benefits I couldn't tell you because I had low blood pressure before. But I am getting healthier every day and I love it. I haven't been on here in a while and that may have something to do with my stunt in loss. I seem to loose more when I am on here getting encouragement from my A-Team members.

Tiffany!!!!!!! I think u r my twin sister here LOL I got on scale this am and i am 240.2 ugh soooooooooooo close but not yet LOL I hate this slow slow slow process but hey we r losing and not gaining and I see the inches and that is very important and i am seeing the heath benefits .. we r gonna do it tiffany I would never beable to lose if I was on my diabetic meds I was on glucaphage byetta and avantia and and now I am off of them .. So if i think of it this way the surgery was a sucess being off diabetic meds is reason to celebrate as any of u were diabetic prior to surgery u know the meds served only to get u fatter. be well Lisa

Good for you, Lisa! This is really what it's all about -improved health and a longer life. Since surgery I've been able to put away my CPAP (woo hoo!), my acid reflux is way better, I'm no longer short of breath or winded by walking half a block, I can clean my house and run errands without feeling like I'm going to die, and I have a lot more self-confidence. I'm getting better customer service, have been flirted with on several occasions, and no longer am forced to shop at plus-size stores. And an unexpected consequence is that I'm speaking my mind and not constantly trying to appease or please everyone around me!

Lisa, I too am on a c-pap and was curious- how can you tell when it is time to stop using it? Should I schedule another sleep study? I am so damn sick of it.

Time to call the doc and see if u really needed it. I know when my hubby left the hospitial he was taken off the c pap before he went home and he stopped snoring right after surgery .. yeah I was so happy no longer to sleep next to darth vader .. I don't blame u I really don't .. c pap r terrible I been sleeping soooooooooooooo much better since I have lost weight i can even remember having dreams again.. I am glad I never had to have a c pap but I would call and see if it maybe possible .. hugs Lisa

Hi there, my cpap adjusts its pressure automatically, and it started turning itself off in the middle of the night. After a few times of waking up with the machine turned off and condensation dripping down my face, I realized I probably didn't need it. Also, my boyfriend told me that I had completely stopped snoring. I'm sure I'm supposed to go through proper channels and schedule another sleep study, but I dread the hassle.
