Blood Clots

Well got the results from my CT-scan and I found out I do have a blood clot in my left groan and vena caval vessel. Thank goodness I still have the greenfield filter in place to prevent the clot from traveling to my heart and lungs. My surgeon does not want me to go back to Detroit to the team of doctors who caused this problem. He has contacted my PCP to find a local doctor for me to follow-up with. Pretty bad when my surgeon doesn't even trust them anymore, shows just how much they we at fault. I will keep you posted as I know more. On a good note I have lost 102 lbs by my scale and 105 on my docs scale. I do have to add another meal. My NUT had me eating 3 meals and 2 snacks, but my doctor wants me to change to 4 meals and 1-2 snacks and eat 3/4 to 1 cup of food at a time depending on what it is. So I have been trying to add the extra meal in the past few days and keep up with my 64-72 oz of water. You know it really bums me to hear when people say this is the easy way out cause I sure the heck am working hard at making sure I keep myself healthy. Life is more like a schedule now....eat...drink...drink...vitimans....eat....drink...drink....eat... Oh and no exercising till I have followed up with vascular doctor so that is going to slow things down. Hi Danielle, I been wondering what had been going on with your clots. Not sure u recalled but my hubby had blood clots that went to his heart and lungs and lived one of the lucky people like u .. Question did they give u a reason why u have blood clots? My hubby found out he has factor V laiden that is a blood clottinhg disorder that means he clots real easy.. So this made us check out our children and to our shock all but one of our children have factor V laiden as well but we also found out that I have what is called van williebraun disease which means I am a bleeder and do not clot normally. He also told his brothers to check this out But they did not take the warning serious and they both had pulmonary embolism after surgery and both eded up in ICU after a hernia operation.So I was wondering if your family has been tested along with u to see if they carry the gene for factor V laiden .Just wanted to shed some light on the subject So our children r seeing a hematologist. but by finding out we have this blood clotting disorders all of our female children can never take birth control pills or when they r pregnant they have to becareful during delivery not to develop blood clots as well as keeping all our children well hydrated in the summer time and we also found out that my son has what I have van williebraun disease and we both bleed very easy and have to take clotting factors .. how werid My huby and I have opposite problems They use to call what I have female hemophyliac but really it is called van willie braun disease and some of my kids have that protection but who does we will never really know how much With all this being said I was wondering if your family or children if u have any r being tested for blood clotting disorder and I am so glad I did Just they never do test for factor V We were so lucky we had a doctor that tested for it and it affects 20% of the population has the gene for factor V laiden and it is KILLER disease if not treated right. Most doctors do not know to test for it they r doctors not hematologist and is easy blood test so I am passing it on ASK your doctor for the blood test. Dani; I am so glad that you have a surgeon who sounds competant and is really being active in keeping you safe and healthy. On the weight loss side-WOW!!!! Keep up the great work and it IS work... Wooo Hooooo!

Thanks Lisa and everyone for your reply. The reason I developed clots is because in the beginning of July they went to take the greenfield filter out and was tugging to hard since it attached itself to the vena cava vessel with scar tissue and it started clotting to protect itself. The next day after they made sure they didn't tear the vessel they went in and blasted the clots at the filter and in both of my groans with blood thinners, but had to stop when they put me into kidney failure. They cleared all clots except my left groan, leaving 20% blockage and hoped it would break up on it's own. I now have more clots. My 12 yr old son has been attached to my like glue because my mom had brain cancer, but it was a blood clot that took her away from us in Feb. This has been VERY hard on him emotionally. I plan to discuss that with the vascular doctor when I see him to make sure it is not something passed down. Thank you for all the info. Danielle
