ONLY 54LBS
ok so I am very devastated. and Even though I am smaller than ever I am not so happy. I read everyones message on here and people are lossing 70-100lbs by the fourth month., How come I have only lost 54.. and I have being taking a nap lately after i come home from work. no energy. I am taking my vitamins.. I dont know.
What was your beginning weight? Some people I have noticed who had more weight to lose have lost more. I started at 357 and have lost 75. Some people who only have about 100 pounds to lose will lose slower. Also I am 5'9 and I think that has something to do with it also. I would call your surgeon , maybe your b-12 is low do you take yours every week? I do mine every Sunday but some take it everyday. Is it sub lingual the b-12 because that is best for absorption. I wish you continued success. I think of it this way 54 pounds in 4 months is fantastic, but I do know how you feel if I was losing slow which by many on here I am I would be bummed too.
ONLY 54 lbs, ONLY 54 lbs?????? Glory - that a major weight loss. You've got to be pschyed by that...that's no small accomplishment. Some of us that are in the 70-100 wt loss area are counting from our highest weight or our 1/1/07 weight and not our April surgery date loss. I, for one, have lost -55 since surgery and -72 since my highest weight / 1/1/07 weight....so, you're right in the ballpark at -54 lbs. There is so much to go into of how / why different people loss at different rates. You just need to stay positive and keep doing what you know is righ****er, protein and exercise and it'll continue to pay off for you. Remember, when's the last time you've lost -54 lbs in the small amount of time since your surgery??? Stay focused and stay positive.
I was going through some fatigue also. The thing that gets me through it is that I have been making sure about my vitamins and taking B-12 sublingual every day. Between the heat and being active, I felt like my ass was getting kicked for awhile.
Another thing, when I feel sluggish, if I force my self to get up and moving and exercise it ALWAYS makes me feel better. Sometimes ya gotta break through the wall that seems to go up.
Hang in there...
PS. I think your weight loss is stupendous. I had about 115 lbs to lose and I have lost 65 total including from my 10 day pre-op diet. I am really tall at 5'10'' so I think that helps. I am very happy having a steady loss even if it has slowed down.
Im right there with you Glory....55lbs lost so far, nothing compared to some others but I'll take it!!! I do understand how you feel and i cant help but question it too sometimes, but like some of the others have said, it probably has a lot to do with how much we started out weighing.
Awhile back someone posted a calculation to figure out the percentage of weight we have lost .....does anyone have that for Glory? I know that really helped me a lot when i saw that in comparison to everyone else, i was actually losing the same percentage as they were, even though it appeared as though their loss had been greater. ....ill try to find it Glory, i think it will help if you see it in a different perspective.
Hang in there
My surgery was 4/4 and I have lost 56 pounds since then. So you are right on track with me.. Just think If we keep going at this pace we will be down over 130 ponds by 1 year out. Slow and healthy is better. I don't know ablut you but I am eating so much healthier and I am not having any problems with food as so many do. Keep your chin up and keep doing what you are doing.
Hola Glory!
I was reading your profile and it said you were about 240 when you started, so you have less to lose than some folks and it will be slower. Be glad - you may not have as much sagging if the loss is slower!
For some perspective - I started at 322 as my heaviest, I lost 13 by surgery date, so I was 309 and had surgery 4-24. I have lost 55 more pounds. I'm losing slowly and it's okay, as long as the number is going down and not up, that's a real life change!!
Try not to be in a race for the finish, because there's a lot of learning to do and new habits to make, and the time is very valuable. You will only get this chance once to lose so easily
I would ask your doctor about your iron and b12 levels regarding your energy level too.
Inky
My surgery was 4/25. I have lost 51 lbs since surgery,,55 if you include the 4 extra lbs I lost by drinking the MOM pre-surgery!
I do understand your feelings about reading of those that have lost 70-80-100 lbs in the same time period. As I said before, I am absolutely thrilled for them! What an accomplishment!!! But it does make me feel like less than successful. I do try hard to remember I am not in a race, I WILL lose it,,just maybe alittle slower.
I asked the doctor when I went for my 3 month check-up if my weightloss was slow and they assured me it was normal and I should not be disappointed. I also asked about the lack of energy (I also take a nap in the afternoon when I can on my days off) and it was suggested I up my sublingual vitamin B-12 to twice a week. Ask your doctor.
And keep up the good work. You're doing fine!!!!!!!

I am only at -67 since surgery....which isnt much further than you. I too feel like its taking forever to come off. And my energy level is very low. I went to my reg PCP and he gave me a B12 shot and wants me back in 10 days to give me another one. Just to boost my body with it and give me a great start. I'm still to take my B 12 once a week.
Its sorta funny in a way, I know thats a lot of weight in only a 3.5 month time, but I too feel like it should be more. I'm so hard on myself. I have set a goal by end of Aug I want to be 205 . that means I have to lose 18 pounds in what 3 weeks?!? So you can only imagine how I'm kicking myself. I turely thought I'd lose this much weight and feel like I'm on top of the world, not feeling like I"m not doing good enough. So, please dont think your the only one, dont get down on yourself. We are all in it together, and all here for eachother.
