Hair loss, where is everyone at?
Ok, up until a week ago, I was only losing a little bit here and there. Now, there are long clumps clinging to my comb every morning. I have started using something called Nexus (got it at SuperCuts) that is suppose to increase volume. Its only been a couple of days, but I hope it works. Crystal, did you go through with shaving your head? I am sooooo tempted! What happens if I don't? Will the squigly little new hairs poke out of the long straight ones that I already have? I don't know what else to do at this point. I'm still doing the protien shake thing, I take 200mg. of Selinium AND 5000 mg. of Biotin. Inky, I am trying soooo hard to keep a positive perspective ( as indicated by the poem in your latest post), but it seems so cruel that when I am finally getting comments as to how great I look, that it will all stop once people see this hair. I know I shouldn't moan and groan, but I was hoping to enjoy the ride for a bit longer. Oh well, thanks for listening ( or reading in this case...lol). Anyone have any good wig shops they want to promote?
Hope everyone is well,
Dawn
I am having a pretty good amount of loss. I have heard, and am hoping that it is true, that the hair loss slows down significantly around 6 mos. I guess we just need to keep our eyes on the prize, and remember the hair will eventually grow back. And hey what the heck Demi Moore shaved her head and still was on the cover of a bunch of magazines. Hair or not, at least I won't still be carrying around that extra weight that might have killed me! I hope that your hair loss is short lived and that you are soon enjoying your long locks once again.
you're right Marla, DEMI MOORE ROCKS!!!! in fact, she is totally my idol! I'm thinking about cutting it too since everyone else here says that it feels better. My hair is totally straight, so I;ll have to do some hair style scouting to find one that is right for my face. At least with the extra wieght off, I'll feel better about sporting the new do! Thanks everyone for the great pep talk!!!!
Well I have not shaved my head yet. I am trying to put it off till summer is over...too hot for a wig. But I am trying a new vitamin along with everything else that is the same. I started hair skin and nails from GNC and I still take my 5000 mcg biotin and I am going to get Nixion. But if this cont. through the being of Fall I am doing a shaving party.
I started to see more than usual, but not alot until I went for my 3 mo checkup. The Dr. told me to be aware and not be alarmed, but usually doing the 2nd trimester (4-6 mos) that the hair loss will increase substantially and then decrease by the end of 6 mos...due to the body adjusting to the surgery and protein/vitamin loss. Well, he either jinxed me or really knows what he's talking about, b/c a week later...yikes, the drain and brushes are full of hair! Like others have said, it's another step in the journey and this too shall pass! Hang in there...
I know what you mean, Dawn. I too am trying to remain positive, but it really is scary to see that hair coming out. This week I noticed that my hair loss seems to be slowing down. It's still coming out when I wash or bru**** but I think it's less this week than last. I am praying that it keeps slowing down! I'm starting to get paranoid about my scalp showing. I don't think it's noticeable to others yet, but if I lose much more it definitely will be. I already got a shorter cut that helped mask it, and if I lose more I'll have to go with even shorter layers. At least we're all in this together-that definitely helps me, knowing I'm not alone!
