Popcorn

Does anyone know what the guidelines are on eating popcorn? Are we never allowed to have it again? I have a friend who had open RNY 6 year ago and she says she loves the stuff, but can't remember when her NUT told her she could have it again after surgery.

My nut never said that I could not eat popcorn. I was told to take it slow and chew well (that went for everything) avoid carbs and sugar. I have been eating pop corn since maybe 2 mos out without any problems. I would check with your nut just in case they have different guidelines. Hope that helps.

Mine said no as well. She said that unless there is some nutrutional value to be had, don't even try it. So, I haven't.

My dietician said light popcorn after 6 weeks. I buy those 100 calorie packs and its the perfect size. I have been eating it since then with no problems.

I dont have a NUT, but my surgeon never told me that i couldnt eat popcorn so i have been for awhile now. Ill have to ask him about it next visit. It hasnt effected me in any way so hopefully im not making a huge mistake. Its probably the only thing i eat that may be considered "bad". I hope I can continue to eat it because i really do enjoy it. Does anyone know WHY we arent suppose to eat it?? I always considered popcorn to be a healthy choice compared to other snacks. Of course i didnt get obese for nothing either though! Obviously i dont know what the heck im doing when it comes to food.
