3 mo check up
Went for my 3 mo check up...all is great! The dr. was happy with my progress this far (-54 lbs since surgery; -70 lbs since 1/1/07). I'm exercising 3x week, he told me to add another day. I told him food is a daily trial and error thing. He told me to keep doing what I was doing, but to remember to chew, chew, chew and remember to S L O W down. Since things are becoming 'normal' now, we tend to forget to keep meal times at a slow pace. We discussed hair loss...I've been seeing more and more hair loss. He said this should continue over the next 3 months, then it should slow down or stop after that. (It's another bonus for taking the easy way out - huh???) We also discuss the pain that's been kicking my butt lately. It's right at the bottom of my breast bone. When it flairs up it's painful and nauseating (sp?). Sometimes it flairs up on an empty stomach or about 1/2 after I eat....no rhyme or reason. We think I have developed an ulcer. I go back to UVA on Wed for a scope test and biopsy. Hopefully, that's what it is and he can give me a Rx to help heal it and make it go away. Other than that, this surgery has truly be a real blessing to me. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner...but hey, then I wouldn't have the A-team family - huh? Best of luck to all - where ever you are in your journey!
Congratulations on your success, Tammy! I agree that it's getting harder to slow down and remember to chew thoroughly. Just yesterday I ate a few bites of chicken and ended up getting very sick. Even though I thought I had gone slowly, it still wasn't slow enough. And I too am experiencing the hair loss. It's pretty awful, but it is reassuring to know it's temporary. I hope you don't have an ulcer, but if you do, hopefully they'll be able to treat it quickly and you will soon feel better. Take care and keep up the great work!
