Strange symptons...anyone else having these???

I've been having some strange symptons lately and can't figure out what is it or what's causing it. For most mornings of the past 2 weeks, when I wake up, I have a real burning sensation in my pouch..almost an acid burning feeling and I'm belching alot more lately. The belching has a very bile after taste to it. It's like when you have a stomach virus and there's nothing left to throw up but bile. It's also starting to happen during the day - usually an hour or so after I eat. I'm wondering if I've developed an ulcer or something. Yesterday, it happened after about an 1 hour of eating 4 Chic Fil A nuggets. I got a hot flash and a rush of nausea (sp?) and ran to the bathroom. I had terrible dry heaves, but nothing came up and the burning sensation was awful. I have my 3 mo check up coming up on Thursday, so I'll definitely be talking the the NUT and surgeon about it. Meanwhile, I've really cut back to soft bland foods and my shakes to give my pouch a rest. I can't put a specific timeframe on it. It happens most consistently in the mornings, but it also happens after I eat or if I go too long between meals...no rhyme or reason. Any ideas??? Thanks for listening.

Sounds like acid reflux. I would try taking some sort tums or zantac or pepcid a/c or somthing like that and see if it helps at all. I hope it's nothing serious.

Tammy someone else that I was talking to said that also....but they were told to start taking over the counter acid reducer......Definately talk to your doctor....

Your nuggets experience sound like dumping to me. I've not dumped but I think we've all read that we can dump after too much sugar or fat at one time. I looked up the nuggets, they're not too bad (6gm of fat) but what did you have for the sauce? I'd agree that the AM symptoms sound like GERD, but I was told that after surgery we wouldn't be able to have that anymore since our pouches are so small? Do you have any upper abdominal pain after eating? I've heard that post RNY patients can develop gallbladder issues - IE maybe that's why you're tasting bile in the AM? I'd check with your NUT and see what they say. Hope you feel better soon!

Chicken makes me feel ill everytime I have tried it. i do take pepcid everyday, but have had the dry heaving on some mornings. Let us know what your Dr says. jen
