Allie Update - Found on Texas Board

She is having a really tough time. After 5 years of trying I am sure she is really regretting this surgery. Please add her to your prayers...July Post Date: 7/15/07 8:22 pm Allie Update Since Daph has thrown her computer and all the wire bits out the window I'll do the Allie update! She came out of surgery just fine - but in a heck of a lot of pain. They put a G-Tube in her old stomach so she can pour the protein and nutrients her body requires while her sensitive pouch heals and adjusts. She will be allowed to eat via her mouth... but that will be baby steps. They are saying she could go home as soon as Tuesday if everything goes perfectly - but Wed or Thurs is anticipated. Her old tummy is draining "a lot" of pea soup type stuff (I know TMI... but I had to share since she shared with me). She has no idea how long the g-tube will be in but again, it will be her major source of nutrition for awhile. Her potassium is very low and causing concern at the moment - it's 2.9, 3.6 is normal.... so they have to get that under control. She is lonely and sad and missing you all and her family - if you want to chat I'm sure she would love to hear from you... please call her! Her direct line at the hospital is #214-818-7631. Nancy thank you so much for finding this - what a great idea to check the Texas board!! I am glad to hear she made it through this recent surgery. I hope that what the docs are doing now will help her tummy heal and that she will be headed forward! Inky

Ok all I did talk with allie.. and she seems in good spirts today she will not be going home from the hospitial tell thursday now .. she is glad we r thinking of her on the april boards.. The G tube will be in for awhile and she is kinda sad she is not losing alot more than she should expect but hoping soon she will be eating real food once again.. but then again she has not weighted her self in awhile .. so she could be losing she does miss her family.. She is amazing and strong considering all that she has been threw .. I told her I would call her tommorrow with any well wishes .. from us but do feel free to call her aswell.. She misses us all and wished she had her computer.. Lisa

Thank you so much, Lisa, for checking on her! Please let her know that I send her my best wishes and am thinking of her. This could have happened to any of us, and it's very scary. Hopefully they've solved the problem and it'll only get better from now on.

Man! What a relief!! I tend to get terrible scenarios running through my head. Send her my love and tell her I'm praying for her. I'm soo glad the experts are attending to her now. Hope her spirits stay high... it makes all the difference. Any idea how we could send her an e-card? Would be nice to send...

I have been thinking about Allie too and praying she is alright. I can't imagine how difficult this all must be for her. Send her my thoughts and prayors and tell her I hope she is feeling better very soon. I can't imagine her not loosing weight during all this since she hasn't really been able to eat for ages. How can you not loose weight when you are practically starving.
