I am seeing how weight loss is effecting my family Wow moment
I figured folks would wonder why I mentioned my dog and horse. They are important to my story because they are both more active now that I am outside in the evening and weekends instead of stuck inside on my recliner. Riding almost every day and being outside will make anyone (or anything!) lose weight.
I also sent my horse to "bootcamp" while I was healing up. Fat camp for horses...HeeHee
WOW Lisa, that's a huge impact! My boyfriend has lost 11 lbs. without even trying, just because I'm more active and not cooking fattening food for us. We used to go out to eat several times a week, ordering appetizers, ****tails, big meals, and desserts. Now we go out rarely, and if we do, we just share an entree and he'll maybe have one beer. It's so much cheaper now! LOL. He still buys some junk for himself like Doritos and cookies, but I've noticed that he's eating those things much less than he used to. I'm glad you had us all think about the impact on our families-it really is incredible!
Lisa,
It is so great to hear things are looking up for you! I read your post all the time and you make me think a lot! I have only one child and I have to think all the time about how what I do she is going to follow! We are very close and she has my family gen. running through her body! It is great the whole family has had a positive outcome! You keep up the great work and I think you should make a chart and show you family how they are contributing to being a healthy family!
First of all, let me say that it was sooooo great to meet you and skinny hubby in las vegas. I feel like I've made friends for life!
Second, I got teary-eyed reading this post, thinking of how profound it must be to be in your shoes, seeing the affect on your children. I'm so happy for you and thank you for taking the time to share it with all of us.
Third, and this is funny - when I was a little girl, I always wanted my name to be Lisa. Now I realize that it was a blessing it wasn't because, between you and Lisa Sizer, there are 16 - YES 16 KIDS!!! OH MY GOSH! I can't imagine even one, although I'm sure they bring you both incredible joy. I think it must be in the name though, so I'm glad it isn't me!
Love and Hugs to you and skinny hubby,
Shana
My husband is losing weight with me as well. He weighed 285 when I had my surgery. I weighed 288. Now, I am at 247 and he is at 255. At first it was a competition. He has a job that is more physically demanding than mine, so we thought he was getting more exercise throughout the day. We eat right, and I am constantly on him about his portion control. I put his food on a small plate just like I do mine. He gets a little more than me obviously, but he is doing really well and I am very proud of him. My daughter is another story. No matter what I try to do, I can't get her to change some of her habits. She is a very picky eater. If it is green, she will not eat it!!!! Never has, not even as a baby eating baby food would she touch greens. I try to sneak it in. I make "mashed potatoes" out of cauliflour in the food processer. She can't tell the difference. I try to explain to her that she needs to eat better foods in order to be healthy. She is four and almost weighs 50 lbs. That really scares me. I don't want her to have the problems that I did. The doctor said that I should not give her anything and when she is hungary enough she will eat what I offer her. Does that sound right????? And my Grandmother watches her during the day and doesn't care what she eats (umm....yes...she watched me also when I was a child, which was a lot of my problem) I beg my Grandma to watch what she gives her, but she says "if the child is hungary I am going to feed her what she wants." She was making her chicken and dumplings the other day at 7:45 in the morning!!!! FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost died!!!!! I don't know what to do.
