Ok so I know that they say not to compare yourselves to others but I cant help it. When I went in for surgery I was 379 and I have now lost 55 lbs so that means I am at 324. While I am happy about the weight loss I cant help but think that I should have lost a hell of a lot more than that. My 3 months is on 07/18 and I am at least hoping to be 314...is that too unrealistic? Everyone here is doing such a great job and I still feel like a big fat failure/slob!! I dont know...help..... Thanks

Well I think it is possible...are you getting in all your protein and water? and are you taking your vitamins? I increased my protein by 20 grams and I seen a big lose.....

I don't think you are doing badly at all!! Let's compare - I am 5'4", and 47 years old, with a history of yo-yo dieting. I started at 322 on my consult date (feb 27, 2007) and at 309 on surgery date (4-26-2007). I am now at 266 and have lost 43 pounds since surgery, which will be three months on 7-26-2007, for a total loss since consult of 56 pounds. So look, you are ahead of me already You probably could lose 10 pounds more by 7/18 if you tried hard with protein and water and exercise at the top of your range, and consistently. Me, I'm happy that my jeans are falling off and I FEEL better Inky

I think you can get to 314 by 7/18! I understand comparing yourself to others, I do it too and also feel like a slow loser! Okay so here is my pep talk I give myself. My body is unique to me and no one else is like me. Am I doing everything required by the program I am on with my nut & surgeon? (89 grams protein, 64 oz. water & exercise). If the answer is yes then I move on to my list of positives. Things I can do now that I could not do before surgery. Here is some examples. I am down ____ lbs. since surgery (when was the last time you lost this much weight?) If I stick with the program this weight will never come back!!!!! I no longer need Blood Pressure Medician My blood sugar level has returned to normal I am starting to wear size 1x and 22w (down from 4X and 26/28W) I sit comfortably at the movie theather I can put on shoes and socks without contorting my body. Sex is Better. I can go on with more items, now make your own list of positives and review it everyday and add to it when new things occur. Today I went to buy new shoes and when I went to sit down on the stool I almost landed on the floor because I missed judged how far out my butt stuck. LOL, I still have lots of junk in the trunk, but it is smaller then I thought! I also did not need to buy Wide tennis shoes, and went down a half of size. Perk up! You are doing great!

Those are some great examples Nancy! I'm going to write those in my planner so that I have some inspiration throughout my day! Thanks!

Dawn, Let me put this into perspective for you, as I truly believe that I am the slowest RNY loser on the A-list board. I had my surgery exactly one week after you and to date, I have lost 36 lbs. So, if I am reading your post, and comparing myself to your loss, I would have to lose another 19 lbs in the next week to be at where you are. That would be depressing for me also, but what I choose to do is look back at the 2.5 months before surgery and think, "wow, i'm kicking butt on this weight loss thing." Otherwise, I would be down on myself and the fact is, it's not going to happen over night, but it will happen. The only reason I wi**** would go faster is because I swore that I would only buy clothes in every-other size, and I'm looking a little ridiculous right now, wearing clothes that are too big, but staring at a few things that i bought that i don't fit into yet! 10 lbs in 14 days is not unrealistic for some, but it might stress you out more than you need to be. Just try to do what you know is right, and it will come off like it's supposed to. Since I have been losing an average of 2.5 lbs a week, my goal is always to lose at least 3, so it makes me try a little harder, but I don't get all down on myself if i don't hit it either. luckily, there's always next week! Take care and keep your chin up. You are my weight loss hero, and since I'm about 19 lbs behind you, just remember - it could be worse!

Keep your chin up. You're doing great... no one should take that away from you - not even you! I'm going to my 3 month check up on Tuesday... depending on the time of the month and time of day i weigh myself, my scale jumps all over the place. So I quit looking so hard at the numbers... I put my "high weight" on my ticker to boost my confidence - and use the "low weight" i've seen on my scale. The doctor will have the final word on the numbers, but I can see it in my clothes and my friends faces. One is actually showing jelous tendencies... so that's where my focus is - it's that or go crazy wondering if i'll ever make it to wonderland.

Just look at it this way...... The slower you lose, the more time your skin has to "bounce" back to where it should be! I'm a slow loser too. I had surgery on April 9th and I am only down 36lbs but when was the last time I lost 36lbs without killing myself to do it???? NEVER! I would say chin up but that will happen in time! LOL and boobs up and butt up, etc.....

i THINK 55 LBS IS REALLY GOOD. i HAD SURGERY 4/20/07 i HAVE LOST 57 LBS. I HAD ALOT OF COMPLICATIONS TOO THOUGH. I WAS 317 STARTING WEIGHT AT SURGERY. IM NOW 261. MY DOC SAID 2 DAYS AGO THAT ON MY NEXT APPT OCT 3 HE WOULD THINK I WOULD BE AT A LOSS OF AROUND 90 LBS. I CAN ONLY EAT LIKE 3 TSP. OF FOOD AT ONE TIME. I DONT THINK THIS IS NORMAL FROM WHAT IVE READ HERE EITHER. MY LOSS IS WITH NO EXCERCISE YET I HAD TOO MANY COMPLICATIONS MORE SURGERIES, AND JUST WHEN I WAS STARTING TO FEEL BETTER SURGERY WISE I BROKE MY FOOT SATURDAY. SO I HOPE THIS HELPS YA SOME GOOD LUCK AS LONG AS ITS COMING OFF NOT ON BE HAPPY!!!! WE HAD ALL THE MISERABLE YEARS OF THE SCALES GOING UP EVEN AN OZ. DOWN IS GREAT!
