How much protein do you shoot for?
I've never really been told how much protein I should take in, I think my nut said between 55 and 65 grams per day at one visit, but not really sure about that. But I hear some say taking in more will help you lose and help with the hair loss. Then I hear some say that it's based on your height? So, I'm curious how much protein you all strive for each day. I'm at 60 grams today already and am going to shoot for 20 to 30 more if possible.
I wasn't given any goals when it comes to protein, but yesterday when I talked to the endocrinologist he said that protein is a "metabolizing" food, meaning that it helps metabolism go faster, so does exercise. So if you take in plenty of protein throughout the day (it is important to spread it out apparently) and exercise 4-5 times a week, you'll be helping your metabolism kick it into gear, which will help you stay toned as you lose weight. So I do as much protein as I can, but I don't think it's critical that you hit a certain number of grams of protein. I don't take shakes either, it's all natural food protein for me.
When I read this I remembered Jeff had posted something about it and how to figure out how much protein you should take in.....well here is the post and you can figure it out....

HI!
My doc said 60 grams protein minimum and recommended 90 grams for optimal nutrition during the weight loss for most women. HOWEVER, I am 5'2" and hardly ever get in 90 grams...it is very hard. Initially my nutritionist and doc where not pushing me to do more than 60 grams but... I am also losing lean body tissue and so my nutritionist and doc said I had to increase my protein to 75-80 (goal again 90) to slow the lean tissue loss down. Still, at 3 months out 60-75 is what I am truly getting in most days...any more and I have belly pain and vomit. One day I got in 90 grams of protein but thought that I was going to burst at the seams! SO, the pouch kinda rules this one for me.
