OT: money question
sorry that this is off topic but I'm having serious financial problems and am trying to figure out what to do. I'm seriously contemplating bankruptcy, I have a lot of credit card debt, not to mention all the medical bills and student loan. I don't know what else to do, I pretty much have no money to live on, my bills are more than my monthly income. I'm trying desperately to find a second job, but they're few and far between, and I don't dare give up the one I have, that's where my insurance comes from. help!!!
I work for a credit counseling and debt management company and would recommend speaking to someone in your area about help. What we do here is negotiate with creditors to lower payments and interest rates and make it so you can live on what you are earning. We give tips and advise on ways to save money and also what things to cut off until you can afford them. We even at times have told people to get a second job until the past debts are caught up. But you would be required to meet with a credit counseling company prior to filing bankruptcy anyways so this would just be a head start. Make sure it's a non profit company and they charge a sliding scale. If you have anyquestions feel free to email me at [email protected]
Student loans can not be wrote off in a bankruptcy so that debt will stick with you until they are paid. But medical and credit card debts can so if it's really bad that may be the best avenue to go. :hugs you are so not alone in this situation but it is one of the most stressful things to ever have to deal with.
