infection/surgery maybe needed to remove my port

Tonight came out of no where while shopping severe pain from my port site at first i thought I was sore from working out ,, and I could hardly walk out of walmart .. I just doubled over I drove home and lifted my shirt and oh my heck a huge red hot swollen at the site .. I called the on call doc and he put me on antibotic leviquinn and said see Dr niak in am he said do not eat drink anything as they may have to go in and removed the port ...infection in ports mean they have to come out asap... I am scared upset.. all this I feel so alone .. in this My hubby is in alaska and not able to get a hold of him .. remote work site... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr My hopes dreams of this wls will be a failure .. I can't beleive this is happening .. I feel like I am crashing and burning.. i just want to cry the pain is sooooooooooooo bad tonight Lisa

wow Lisa, you have been through so much. If the lapband doesn't work out for you, then you are not the failure, the procedure was. There's nothing you could have done differently because the things that are going on have to do with the band, not with you, know what I mean? And maybe this will open the door to something else - maybe RNY could be something you might consider or one of the other procedures? Take it easy tonight, follow the doc's orders and let us know what happens as soon as you are able. hugs, Inky

Oh Lisa I'm sorry you are dealing with all this and alone to boot. I hope you hubby checks in soon so he knows what is going on. Who will watch the kids if you go to the hospital again? Good luck and let us know what happens you are in my prayors.

I have 4 adult children 18 20 23 and 25 and two of my boys r at boy scott camp tell sat so it just leaves my 8 year old to bounce btw his sibbling.. Not that I have the most helpful adult children .. I am the one that helps them . out...but all else fails I have my gf I can farm him out 2 .. Did reach my hubby at 4 am this am and he cannot get a plane out tell tonight if he can at all... planes in and out of alaska r always booked this time of year ...he is not due to leave tell sat. Right now I am praying it is a localized infection and not in the port.. not sure how they can tell how far the infection is or is it in the port .. but what scares me i have real tight restriction more so now that a few days ago I can only imgaine is it puss in the band aswell .. time will tell All i can do now is wait and hope for the best Lisa Thanks all for your support..

Lisa, You have been through so much! No matter what happens you have not failed. Give your body time to recovery and if God leads you to it (and if need be) you can try again with surgery, whichever type you chose. You will be in our prayers! God Bless!

Lisa I am so sorry you have had one thing after another! I will pray that it is just at the site! If they do take the port out wont they put a new one in? I am praying it all works out!! dee
