Always Feeling Nausea

I had surgery on April 25th so yesterday was two months post-op. I'm ecstatic with my weight loss (down from 418 to 297) but my quality of life as far as eating goes is horrendous. Everything I eat with the exception of yogurt and cheese leaves me sick to my stomach. I keep trying to introduce new foods that follow my post-op diet plan but they often lead to my vomiting. Is anyone else experiencing similar results? I can sure use the help!

Tim, I had the same thing AND had surgery the same day as you! Nausea EVERY time I ate. Add to that my new heightened sense of smell since surgery and even strong smells would make my stomach start turning (ie; food cooking, air fresheners, cologne, etc) I complained to the doctor and got some nausea pills. They didn't seem to help at all. FINALLY about a week ago it seems to have subsided. Did I just "get over it" or did something change? I don't know. I have made a serious effort to wait longer,,MUCH longer between bites. Minutes,,not seconds. I don't know if that made a difference (don't think so cause I used to feel nauseous after the first bite!) or if it's a phase that's just passing. I sure hope so!! Pam T

Tim, I had that problem also and when I finally talked to my surgeon about it he said we needed to get a EDG (endoscope) done and YEP I had a stricture that was almost closed. I felt much better afterwards. I suggest talking to your surgeon if you have not already done so. Just to be on the safe side. Katherine

I agree, it may be a stricture. How is your water intake? I heard somewhere that if you don't get in enough water, then that too can cause someone to be nausious.

Thank you for you input. I did speak with my surgeon who advised me that at this point what I'm feeling is normal. However, if improvement is not realized after the third month he would need to do an endoscope.
