What are our professions?
I am in Marketing/Business Development for a 3D Medical Imaging (radiological) software company in the high te*****ubator for a major SUNY university in Long Island, NY. My company is the only software company on the market that holds FDA approval and 510K clearance for virtual colonoscopy. We also offer 3D imaging software for the heart (soon to be 4D), brain and other parts of the body. Our software works in conjunction with CT Scanners (computed tomography). In my spare time I offer website design on a freelance basis (if I have time). I also do desktop publishing and major event planning (i.e. radiological society of north america - RSNA) every year. I'd like to go back to school and get my degree but I have no idea in what. A few years back I was studying criminal justice but life got in the way...
I am a paralegal for a medical malpractice law firm in New Jersey and have been in the legal profession for over 17 years. Our firm represents only people who were permanently injuried by doctors and not doctors. I love what I do. I get a chance to help people who have little or not hope for a normal life or to live at all.
I do wish I had a work from home job. I would love to work in my PJs.
What a fun question! I just read everyone's responses and I've decided that we have such a wonderful and diverse bunch! We Rock!!
Im a Department Director for a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility and working towards my counseling licensure. I basically get to talk to addicts all day. Its a very rewarding career where i get to watch people at their lowest come in and completely transform over the month they stay with us. Its amazing. (usually)
I'm the Finance Manager for a midsize Chevrolet dealership in NJ. I'm the guy you have to see when you buy a car. I handle all the finances arragements, sell aftersale products etc. I have been in the car business for 22 years. The hours suck but for a high school graduate I know of no other way to make the kind of money I do. I am blessed to be able to do this.
Everybody has good real jobs except me I work at as a clerk at a convenience store. I've been there 8 years, despite having a BA in history and and AS in legal business. The jobs where I'm at are few and far between, and sad to say, the company I work for pays more than what I would make doing what I went to school for. The only good thing is that we have great benefits, that's how I was able to have this surgery, but now I'm stuck, I won't ever be able to leave. that was a harder decision to make than actually having the surgery.
I am a supposed to be a part-time Pediatrician and part-time mom, but lately life has made me full time at work (covering for a sick partner) and trying to be full time at home too (taking over for sick grandma)! My kids are 4 and almost 6, they are wonderful and full of energy to keep me busy...hence my difficulty keeping up with the posts!
