A very diverse group we have here! I'm an Occupational Therapist/Certified Hand Therapist for a large Orthopaedic Group. I get to see injuries from sprains and strains all the way up to major trauma after our doc's have patched them up. The best part is getting to be there to help someone after they've been injured. Seeing folks go from relying on others to take care of themselves to being able to do it by themselves is a great plus. We're in the midst of an expansion to add another clinic AND to switch from paper charts to an Electronic Medical Record - at the same time! This could get pretty interesting with all the changes - but heck, change is good - right?

Wow we do have alot of interesting careers here. I always dread this questions because most people have never heard of my job. I am a protective payee for people on social security disability. I honestly love my job because I get to help people live better lives on a very limited income and have taken numerous homeless people and found then suitable housing. I am currently in my first semester at school to obtain my BA in social work. Once that is completed I am hoping to obtain a job with the Social Security Administration.

Wow...this has really been a fun thread to read - thanks Shar for starting it... I work in the Sales Operations dept of a life insurance and annuity company called Genworth Financial. I've been there for 21.5 yrs. I was in the Accounting dept for 15 yrs and then moved outside of my comfort zone and into the Sales dept. The only thing constant in our company is CHANGE. People, processess, procedures...you name it. But guess what, I love it. Don't get me wrong - it's very stressful a lot of times, but it's also rewarding in that I'm always learning new things and I work with a bunch of great folks. They too have been very supportive of my WLS and continuously give me praise and recognition for my hard work and efforts with it. They are definitely an extended family to me. I have my AA in Accounting and was going for my BA, but didn't make it. It took me 10 yrs to get my AA by working FT and going to night school. Life events kept me busy...marriage, building house, 2 kids, OT, OT, OT, OT...lol. I decided it was time to give up college when my only studying time was when my paper was taped to my steering wheel while I was driving between work, daycare and college. Maybe I'll get there eventually when I have empty nest syndrome in about 8 years...lol...until then, I'm enjoying every minute, every football game, every baseball game, every basketball game and every disgusting burping and farting sounds and jokes that a 14 yr old and an 11 yr old boys can come up with!!! Have a great week everyone!!!

Ok so here I go. I am currently a stay at home mom with 6 kids under foot. I was a nursing student until the baby came along, he is 2 now. I plan to return when I think that he is ready for me to leave him. I am a certified medical assistant/phlebotomist. I have worked for an ob/gyn in the past. My long term goal is to finish nursing school and get a job working where I feel appreciated (lol). Shar, this was definitely a good idea and lots of fun to read. Thank you for starting it.

Applications Development and Support manager for the state Department of Health. Basically what that means is I am a computer geek...I have been in information technology for over 30 years and now manage other programmers. (Are your eyes glazing over yet?) What an interesting question! It's fun reading about others on this forum. Marcia

I am a full-time stay at home, homeschooling mother of 9! I married young, and started our family at a young age. But my hubby has always been able to provide comfortably for our family so I could stay at home and raise our large family and homeschool them. I do some freelance photography that has brought in a little extra cash now & then and on I'm also a water color artist and have sold some of my artwork to help suppliment at times. But I'm first and formost a mom and so happy that I've had the priviledge to stay home and raise my family. As a child I always dreamed of being a wife & mother, so I'm living my dream! Life is never dull around our house and the laundry is never done!

Hi! What a awesome thread. Your lives all sound more interesting then mine. I am a ... eeeheemm... "Domestic Engineer". I went to school to be a early childhood educator and then quit after a few years because I realized I didn't like children! Then I had 3 of my own. hmmmm wonders never cease!!! I love my kids though! My hubby works for Homeland Security as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (soulds interesting eh?) I also stay home and home school my three children. Ages, 8, 6, and 4. My oldest is also high functioning with Autism. I have two boys and one girl.... I play the piano and guitar and sing at weddings, church and such. Anyways.. that's about it! -Shakeira
