My First Truly Successful Restaraunt Experience
So after a few misses with Food Roulette, I finally tried something at a local restaurant that was perfect to eat, I ate it perfectly slowly and baby tummy loved it!!
Half a serving of French Onion soup and one grilled shrimp. And boy, waiters/waitresses really look at you funny when you don't want anything to drink, lol. I don't have enough will power to ask for water and then not drink it.
So I just wanted to post because, in a way, it's a WOW moment that has to do with successful restaurant dining and being able to socialize without feeling like a) a glutton or b) a tiny portion freak

congrats
I know all about the funny looks. I've been good about ordering water and not drinking it though. I admit I have eaten out a few times since surgery. mostly at our local diner, but I've also been to Olive Garden, just had some broth from wedding soup there, and at perkins, where I got an omelet which gave me three meals
I have had my share of food roulette myself, but last night we were invited over my brother's house for dinner. I'm happy to say it went very well. My sil is a gourmet cook and everything she makes you just can't help but indulge because it's so dang good! Last night she cooked a pork roast on the rotissarie all day long and the meat was soooo tender. She made it kinda like pulled pork with her own barbque sauce (which I only took a little due to the sugar). Then she made the most incredable homemade cheesy potatoes with bacon which I really loved. And then her specialty baked beans! I was able to eat a little of everything and because I paced myself & ate slowly everything stayed put in my tummy. I even enjoyed a very tiny piece of homemade strawberry pie. My sil made it with splenda especially for me and it was to die for! I couldn't eat much but at least I know it was healthy for me without all that sugar! Last night was a good night. The key for me was eat slowly & take small bites!!! It worked!
Cheers!
That's wonderful news! I am soooo jealous! I wish I could have those things to eat right now. We had a barbeque tonight, and darnet, I wanted a cheeseburger soooo bad! My sweet husband cooked me a turkey burger instead. Not exactly a big mack, but it did the trick. So, I ate my burger and two pieces of cantalope, and that was it. No potatoe salad, no chips, no corn on the cob... Wahhhhh! If it wasn't for the wonderful comments I got about my wieght loss, I would have totally broken down and cheated!
Take care,

Congrats, Inkster. I'm learning that lesson, too.
My wife and I were at Home Depot getting supplies for our Landscaping project. We needed a quick lunch so we stopped at Taco Bell and ordered a Quesidilla and my "naughty food" a chilli cheese burrito. For a grand total of $2.78. We laughed about that the rest of the day. We've never had lunch for 2 for under $3.
Life certainly is less expensive as a thin person.

Ooh, that soup sounds awesome! It can be so stressful to have dinner out. I had some bad experiences, but I'm getting much better at really taking it slowly and not mirroring the pace of the people I'm with. Last night we went to a BBQ place and I just had a side of meaty bbq beans. I had about a third of it. I also ate 2 french fries and a bite of brisket from my boyfriend's plate. It was perfect!
