Hi - I just needed to vent to people who know what I am going through (surgery-wise). I work full time during the day and go to school to work on my master's in the evening and I took a full course load this quarter This quarter started March 25 and I had my surgery April 2. I missed one week of classes b/c of surgery and actually attended classes on Friday and Saturday after being released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. I also had to travel for work for a week just 3 weeks after my surgery. I started back to work 1 week after surgery. Well, I just got my grades from school and I got all B's. I am not a B student and I am extremely upset. This is probably going to sound stupid and I am sure that people have bigger problems but I just need somewhere to go to ***** and moan. I have been busting my a** since my surgery and I got a bunch of stupid B's. I don't know how to explain this if you haven't attended school later in life as an adult, but there is so much more pride in grades (now that I am paying the tuition!!) and I am just sick over this. I feel like a failure. And now that I have this mini-stomach I can't eat my emotions anymore!!! LOL!!! So I'm posting here instead. I guess that's a step in the right direction, right?

Jessica, It's ok. I understand what you are going through. I was the same way, and actually just finished mine last may. During the process my husband at the time, his mother passed away and I was the executor of her estate. I had to run around and do all of this stuff, not to mention give her a proper burial, but go to school too, as well as work. I ended up missing 1 day of class and had to take the class over again due to the professor's attendence rule. This put me at graduating a year later. I was so frustrated, but it all worked out. A few "B"s are not that bad, it just makes you work harder in the future. And by the way, you are not a failure. Do you know how many people can't hack getting their master's? A LOT!!!!!! You are doing awesome just to be doing that!!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Congrats on getting yours done! Even with all of the challenges. That's awesome, I am jealous. I am ready to put school behind me forever. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

Wow! I am truly amazed at your determination juggling that kind of hectic schedule right after having surgery. I couldn't even imagine handling all that, all I wanted to do was SLEEP after surgery. And then not only did you juggle it all but you managed to pull off straight B's. Now to me, that is very IMPRESSIVE! You have to consider that your body was going thru a lot and you weren't at your best right after surgery... so achieving what you did while recovering is amazing! Be proud of yourself girl, you are doing just great and it will only continue to get better. Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words. I am always too hard on myself. I have always felt like I had to work twice as hard and be twice as good to compensate for weighing twice as much as my colleagues. I guess that I may owe my therapist a call. LOL

OK..............I'm SO right there with you!! I had surgery towards the end of our semester and I came up with all B's. I was ticked!! Dropped my GPA a TON!! I would have been tickled had a been a teenager but I'm 31 years old, married with 4 kids for cryin out loud trying to pull a full load every semester. I at least want a couple A's........LOL OH well........there's always next semester!! Allie

I know! Doesn't it suck??? I totally expected to see some A's that's why I was crushed. Had I slacked off and expected the B's, I wouldn't have felt so bad. But I think of all of those times where all I wanted to do was sleep and instead I was up on the computer while everyone else (who didn't have surgery!!) seemed to be in bed. Congrat's to you for all you are doing!! I've always said, I don't know how people go to school when they have kids. My hat is off to you.

Awwwww thanks! I just knew I needed to go back to school because the career I was in (nursing) was getting impossible to do anymore. So I went back to school to teach. Allie

You are at the right place, I finished my MBA in 2001 and I only had 2 classes that I finished with B's in and they were classes that I had group input and that pissed me off. When you are working on your Masters a B may as well be a D because anything lower and you have to repeat the class. Look at it this way, your B's were not your fault you had you back up against it so take it as a learning experience and not the next classes out of the park. Roz

Thanks Roz. I knew there had to be a fellow MBA here. I appreciate your words of encouragement and I will do just what you said in my next set of classes. They start again on Monday (YUCK!!!!)
