I was just looking at how many pounds some of you have lost in a week. I am wondering how many calories on average is everyone getting in? Ever since I started the solid foods the weight is very slow to come off. It just seems that it should be coming off a little faster than two pounds a week -- if I'm lucky! Take care everyone!

Great question - I have wondered the same thing. I currently try to keep my calories to around 800 with 89 grams of protein and 64 ounces of fluids. I am really interested in hearing the reply of others.

I'm only losing about 3 pounds a week which I think is a good pace for me. I don't mind it coming off slowly as long as the scale keeps going down! It's almost 7 weeks since my surgery and I'm down 37-lbs. I'm very happy with that and so is my doctor. Exercise does help shed those pounds & inches so maybe if you want to see more weight loss add more exercise to your routine. I went dancing over the weekend at a wedding and this morning I'm down 4-lbs over the weekend. That's the first time I ever did that but I contribute it to dancing all night long! My calories a day are around 800 and my protein intake is about 80-90 a day! Liquid intake is about 48oz. or more a day. Cheers!

I read that you take in 80-90 protein per day-- how do you do it?? I can in 50 some days and am trying for 50 everyday but it's tough. Like today, a yogurt for breakfast- 4, hard boiled egg for lunch- 7, and 2 ounces of pork for dinner--- plus a few snacks, crackers with peanut butter- and I better make a protein shake tonight. I was in a hurry this morning- hence the yogurt and egg on the go. Jackie

Jackie- I fix myself a smoothie protein drink every morning. I never ate breakfast before the surgery and I still have no desire to eat breakfast so a quick shake in the morning works best for me and I it's about 50 grams of protein in one drink. After that I can usually get the rest of my protein in from other foods especially from cottage cheese! I will probably always do a protein shake in the mornings just because I really like it and it's a good start to the day. Also, try adding skim milk into your liquid intake... that's an easy 9 grams of protein... plus I add milk to other things like soups, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc.... Hope that helps you with some ideas on how to increase your protein. Cheers!

I am the same as Nancy. 800-1000 calories and 80-100g protein with at least 64oz of water per day (I personally do not count other fluids toward that total, just the water). Are you exercising yet? I definitely see a slow down if I stop walking and going to the gym.

haven't a clue. guess i shouild try to figure that one out. can't be alot though cuz my crabby pouch won't let me eat much. 6 weeks out today and down 40 pounds. but i have to go home wed her from utah. visiting my sister. haven't weighted in 10 days. looking forward to seeing how i have done. guess it was good to not weigh every day. i am so bad at that. but when all you did was gain, it is kind of nice to watch it melt off. too afraid to try harder foods. hurts still too much and my incisions aren't healed yet. i see the doc friday and he may have to reopen them and stitch them too heal. ttyl nikki
