Not peeing enough?
I have a question......didn't really know what to call it. I posted this on the mainboard too but thought since ya'll were on the same "time frame" as me, maybe someone else has experienced this as well.
I can go HOURS without peeing and when I finally DO go, I dribble a little and that's it. Ok so it doesn't take a genius to figure out that I'm probably dehydrated. Yes, I'm drinking. Enough? Probably not........well I KNOW not! Thing is, 30 minutes after I eat, it hurts too bad to drink. So then I wait another 30 minutes........it STILL hurts to drink. So then I keep trying. About 2 hours after I eat, I can FINALLY drink but then it's almost time to eat something else so I can only get half a bottle of water in........sometimes a whole bottle, but not very often. I see my surgeon tuesday but really don't know how much longer my body can hold up to this. To top it all off, I seem to have diarrhea every other day. It's awful! So my cardiologist told me that when that happens, I need to replenish myself with some potassium. So I do that then get diarrhea all over again. I obviously don't know what, if anything, this is doing to my body. It's got to be doing something because after my episode tonight, I made a baked potato (has TONS of potassium) and sat down to eat it and got SO extremely dizzy that I thought I was about to pass out. I'm still very dizzy as I sit on this chair. Oh I'm babbling now.......my point is........I'm just lost. I didn't think I would have so many issues with this surgery. Besides getting majorly stuck twice, my food goes down fine so that's not a problem. It's just all the rest of this stuff. Anyone else have any of these issues?? Especially the very little peeing thing? It all just worries me so bad!

Sounds like something you should speak to your Doctor about. I'd call first thing, Monday.
I had an RNY about the time you did. Even though my urine has decreased (3-5 times a day, 1/2 cup per time) I'm still pretty regular, and it's never painful to drink. I have noticed my urine is much darker and stronger smelling.

Allie,
I feel your pain. I had my RNY on 04/26 and I still haven't been able to drink enough liquids. I'm aiming for 64 ounces everyday - but still can't manage to reach that goal - with the eating and wait periods, it makes it very difficult! I have stalled for about 2.5 weeks with the weight loss. Have been concentrating on getting my calories and protein and have those levels where they should be. So, it must be that my body needs more liquids - but at times I feel that is impossible. I know where you are coming from. But, it sounds like your case is more extreme and you need to get checked out. Low potassium levels can play major havoc on your body. I'm glad to hear you are seeing your doctor on Tuesday - they can maybe give you fluids via IV - and get you back on track! Take care of yourself and know I'm thinking of you. Let us know after you see the doctor!

I went through this exact same thing until last week. I did dehydrate myself. Water gave me the pain but isopure drinks did not. I bought the blue raspberry at vitmin shoppe and that went down fine. Also, a lot of sugarfree popsicles. V8 juice was wonderful too. I finally can do the crytal ligh****er as long as it is in a sports drink bottle. I was taking too big of drinks of water and it would hurt!
I had the same problems.....only thing I would say is to try to not drink too much water all at once....but you should call your surgeon....make sure everything sounds ok with him/her....But yes I can go like 6-8 hours with out urinating....and I am getting in over 100 oz....Sounds like the baked potato made your sugar spike too fast....or if it happened before you ate....your sugar could have been going too low....I would call your doctor......Make sure everything is ok....
