At 6-8 wks post op my surgeon requires us to start taking all of our supplements. (Multi. vitamin, B12, Iron, Calcium, and D- in my case) Soo.... I got them yesterday and started last night. I went to see my aunt who is a vitamin expert (not sure what her actual title is, but she runs her own business working with cancer patients, post menapausal women, heart patients, etc... basically anyone with any health problems that vitamins can benefit.) I feel very confident in the vitamins she gave me along with the schedule, etc. My problem is this. It is a lot of pills to swallow and so I'm wondering how the rest of you do it. Do you space them out? Do you put yourself on a schedule? This is very important to me to do this right b/c I know vitamins are key to staying healthy PLUS i really need some energy!! So... right now I'm taking.... a.m.- 2 multi. vitamins (dosage is actually 4-8 per day, I'm taking 6 total) 2 Vit. D-3 1 B (includes B12, B1, B6 and a few other things) urso (for gall bladder) Pepcid (chewable) noon: 2 multi. vitamins p.m. 2 multi vitamins 1 tbsp. calcium citrate w/ D and magnesium Urso Any tips on getting it all in? Do you just sit and take one pill after another or space them out? TIA.

I take my b-12 and actigall first thing when I get up, then my iron, v-c, zinc and 2nd actigall sometime later, around lunchtime, then I take my multi-v and one tums around suppertime, and one more tums before bed. the nurse told me to do the opposite, but I found that I was missing doses of my actigall when I did it that way, so I just flipflopped it.

Interesting. My Doc has me taking 2 Flintstone chewables in the morning. That's it. At 3 months I get blood work done to determine if any other supplements are required. Every Doc seems to run their program a little differently. I understand your dilemma though. Geez, just one more thing to schedule in during an already hectic day. Good luck, lady. DD

I take two chewable multi-vitamins. At my one month check up, the Surgeon added b-12 sublingual and two calciums. I also need to start taking iron once my output stablizes-do not want to get constipated. Everything is chewable and you really need the bariatric formulas so they are a manageable amount, chewable and the correct formula. I get mine from bariatric advantage as this was recommended by my surgeon.

David I second that all the Dr's seem to think different! I have been taking my supplements from 10 day out and EVERYTHING is chewable. I also take the Bariatric Advantage products. I take 2 Multi Formula with B Complex and extra minerals in the am with my Viactive Calcium n the am. Then take 2 29mg Bariatric Advantage Iron in the evening just before bed It also has vitamin C in it! I am taking the B-12 Dots sublingual 1000mcg a week. I feel great and have not had any issues with it and my labs all com back good! Just FYI for all The passion fruit Iron by Bariatric Advantage is know for NOT causing Constipation and I have not had any issues with it and have been taking it for over a month! GOOD LUCK!!!
