One Month Check-Up
I had my one month check up with my doctor on Thursday. I am down 35 lbs. I know this sounds stupid, but I feel that I had this surgery and I am eating so little, I should be down more, even though my doctor said I am ahead of track becuase most people should love 20 - 30 in the first month. Anyone else feel like this?
Also, I take pictures every sunday to track my loss. I don't see a difference. You would think after losing 35 lbs, you would see a diference or feel a difference in the way your clothes fit. I feel nothing. I am a little frustrated!
You'll get no sympathy from me. 35 lbs. in a month is AWESOME! I'm 36 lbs. in 6 weeks and I couldn't be happier about it.
I think to wish for better results than what your getting is unrealistic, and will only lead to needless heartache and frustration, on your part.
Try this. Start stacking items on your scale, and see just how much crap you'll need to put on there to reach 35 lbs. Maybe then you can get a perspective on how much less your body is having to lug around everyday.

Hi Kimberly,
I think a 35 pound loss at one month is, as your doctor said, ahead of the game. It took a while to pack on 35 pounds, and it's not going to slide off your body overnight. Plus, you really don't want it to. Even 35 pounds in 30 days is a shock to your system.
Be proud of what you've been through, and I love DD's advice to SEE what 35 pounds looks like. Or carry around a toddler for 24 hours, lol. Don't you FEEL better not lugging around that weight? Has your blood pressure gone down, any other medical issues resolving?
Heck, I'm up a pound today cuz old Aunt Flo' is here, and that's okay, it happens. Our weight loss will slow, we'll plateau and hit stalls, suddenly we'll drop weight, it's all going to happen over the next year to each of us.
taking pics is great, but maybe just once a month instead of weekly. I think the changes will be more obvious over a month. I did one month pics and though I knew I was losing, it wasn't until I saw the side by side shots that I was shocked - dude, where's my butt going??
Anyway, don't beat yourself up, just keep doing what your doing and the weight will keep coming off

I'm w/ DD - no sympathy from me. I am 5 weeks out and have lost 23 lbs. I'm not upset by it either. My body rightfully owns this weight, so I can understand that it's going to put up a fight to keep it. I'll just fight harder and longer. Eventually, I will hit the 35lbs lost mark. I look forward to it as a great achievment. So should you.
Take care. You really are doing great.

You are doing absolutely great! One pound is 3500 calories. So think how much you have burned in the one month! Especially when you are fightint with your body over getting rid of it. Body thinks you are starving it and wants to pack away all those calories to save itself and you just want to get rid of them!
what i would not give to have lost 35 pounds in a month! I am now 4 weeks post-op and have only lost 13 pounds !! I had been hoping for at least 20-25! A friend took a picture of me this weekend and I was the same as you.. did not see any difference, even though i had lost 30 in the few months prior to surgery! I seemed to have lost more before surgery than I am now ! very frustrating! however knowing that it IS coming off and (hopefully) not coming back is what is keeping me going.
