Throwing Up!!!!
I am beginning to be really concerned. I am eating fish, seafood, soft vegetables, deli meats and all soft foods. Since this change, I have been throwing up alot. The only thing that I can tolerate is all soft foods, and seafood. Fish, Shrimp, crab. I can also eat stringbeans, brocoli florets, and canned fruit. sometimes pasta works, and sometimes i throw it back up. Last night I eat a baked potatoe with brocoli and cheese for dinner. It worked well. I saved the left over portion for lunch today, and I threw it back up. Last sunday, I ate a tiny peice of meat, and I threw up about 8 times. There was not even that much in my stomach. I am not nauseated, but I feel that something is stuck in my chest and it has to get out. Perhaps I am eating too fast or not chewing enough. My concern is, when i start the throwing up, I don't want to eat anymore. today all I have eaten is 1 peanut butter cracker. Of course I don't have any desire to eat, so this can be dangerous. All I want to do is drink because I am sooo thirsty. I hope I don't have a stricture. I go for my 6 week follow up on Monday. Hopefully all is ok. Has anyone else experienced this. I AM SOOO WORRIED.
Tracey
Oh, Tracey, I feel for you, I am right there with you. I thought I was over it, I had 5 great days where my tummy tolerated anything I gave it, and then suddenly the last two days are exactly as you describe again.
I seem to be able to keep down cottage cheese, pudding, some thicker soups (though not today, but yesterday it was fine for lunch, but dinner was bad). I am trying very hard to be careful of how fast I eat and have learned that when I hear a gurgle I am full. I am going back to soft foods for a day or two to let the tummy calm down, and then the next meal I will stop BEFORE I gurgle. Maybe it's just too much, though I weigh food at 1-2 ounces or 1/4 cup, except soup, I usually have 1/2 cup.
I see my surgeon Monday as well, with many questions!! On a good note though, my blood count came back and I am not anemic. woohoo, my silver lining today.
Inky
I had the same problem with food getting stuck in my chest. I felt like I was having a heart attack and then finally I would throw it up and feel a little better. But like you, after throwing up, I had no desire to eat. My doctor said the best thing to do is to take a huge gulp of water which will make the food come right up immediately and you will feel better. My doctor told me that the food gets stuck either becuase you eat to fast or because you don't chew enough. I am not paying close attention to how I am chewing and it hasn't happened since.
However, I saw some of the stuff you have been eating and my Nutritionist said those are big no nos until about 6 months or more post op. Things like broccili, and pasta, etc. Maybe that is what is making you sick.
