I only get a 1/4 of a cup of food down...on a good day a bit more...if I eat something dense like meat (steak, chicken, etc.) I can only get down about 1-2 oz. I think your 1/4 cup is pretty normal.

same here. i had surgery on the 25th, and i'm not eating more than 1/4 cup volume (about 3 oz by weight) for most things.

It depends on what it is. If it's pretty soft, like cottage cheese or SF pudding, I can eat about 4 oz or so. If it's something like chicken, only about 2 oz. If I eat fast, I burp for hours, and have thrown up once, I've learned my lesson on that, but it is hard to make 2 oz of something stretch out for 1/2 hour, when I'm used to gulping my food down in 10 min when I'm on my break at work.

I had surgery the 25th of April, and I can eat a bout a tablespoon more than a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, but any heavy food (meat/cheese/etc) I'm lucky if I get an ounce or a few bites. I have definitely found that if I eat to fast (last night, tuna sashimi and squid salad gave me some serious foamies!!) I will get sick. I have to put the fork or chopsticks down between bites and concentrate on timing so I'm not eating in five minutes. Definitely small bites and lots of chewing as well make things go down easier. We'll get the hang of it!! Inky

That is normal, at least for me, I am trying not to think about how little I am eating as long as my doc and nut thinks its o.k. then I don't worry about it. Roz

Some people are being able to eat more but some aren't. Yougurt, I can eat a whole small container, I absolutely can not do that with anything else!
