Not Feeling Full ????
Hey Surgery Sis~
I have this problem as well. I eat what looks like a whole lot but dont really feel full ever. I assume I'm full because I just ate what appears to be a lot of food. For instance I am eating a little over a chicken breast. I am guessing its 3-4 ounces. I just dont feel full. I really need to invest in a food scale. The only time I feel full is when I drink a protein drink andthen try to resume fluid intake. THen it feels impossible. I wonder whats up with us?

Well that helps me out a lot actually, thank you. I cut my chicken up into tiny tiny bites and then mix ketchup or heinz 57 steak sauce. So i think that my chicken would fit into a 1/2 cup. Just seems like a lot to eat to me. Anyway I just keep thinking that perhaps my stomach hasnt waken up enough to say I'm full. If its not better by my six week appointment I will mention it.

when I first started eating more "real" food, as in not pureed, I noticed that I felt full. It was almost like a pressure or a pain on that side of my lower chest. To clarify a little bit more, I have a hiatal hernia, and it's the same sensation I used to get pre-op, when that little bit of my stomach would get full, I got a pain or usually a lot of pressure until the food passed. But I have noticed that I don't get it as much, or maybe I just eat more, I don't know what it is. I hope I haven't stretched my pouch
The way I understand it, you won't feel full or hungry until about 3 months out when the nerves to the stomach have healed. I think that I am starting to get the full sensation. I notice that I can eat less than I could a few weeks ago. I wouldn't panic, jus****ch the portion. My NUT told me the same thing about the 1/2 cup. That's how much I eat at meals.
I have been having this same issue. In this and other forums I keep seeing posts from people about having that "full" feeling with pressure under the ribs. I don't get that either. It's nice to know it may come later. It's really difficult to know how much to eat. I stick with my guidelines 1/4 to 1/2 cup - depending on what the texture of the food is. Sometimes I feel like I could eat more, and other times I know I can't. The protein shakes are really filling though. I don't so much get the feeling that my pouch is full, just know that I can't possible take another drink!
I am almost 6 weeks post op and at my 2 week postop appointment I discussed this with my dr. He said you should never feel full only satisfied. He said feeling full is what you got to needing to have this surgery. Because if your full you have over ate, which in return has stretched your stomach a little more each time you ate til you were stuffed. And it kept taking more and more to get full. Which made perfect sense to me. So now I just eat the 4-6 oz I'm supposed to have and then walk away. And after that amount of food I'm not stuffed/full but my tummy isn't growling anymore either.
