memorial day weekend
How is everyone spending their memorial day??
My big brother's coming home, yay. A little FYI, he's stationed at Fort Dix, and was there during that big almost shooting thing that happened a little while back. Thankfully, he'd gotten sick with the flu and had to go home. My dad is having a cookout on Saturday for us.
Normally I work all holidays, for the time and a half, but I didn't get scheduled this year cuz of being off on leave.
We are having a bunch of people over for a cookout! It should be fun and the weather looks like it will cooperate. I plan on having hubby grill me a soy veggie burger and if that doesn't agree with me I will try a grilled turkey hotdot! I'm going to make myself a little bit of potato salad with lite mayo and hard boiled eggs in it. Should be yummy and easy to go down. Any other ideas for FOOD this holiday weekend?
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and remembers the veterans who have bravely served our country over the many years. GOD BLESS THE U.S. TROOPS AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Cheers!
Tonight I'm taking my wife out for Japanese. The grilled shrimp I had last time was the best meal I've had since surgery.
Saturday. Landscaping. Planting all my annuals. I'm also taking out the swing set and sand box. My youngest is now 8 y.o. and has no desire to play with either.
Sunday, is our annual cemetary tour. We visit the graves of family members and freshen the flowers. Clean the headstones, and pull the weeds.
Monday, I march in the Memorial day parade in Zeeland. (I'm a Marine Corps vet) Then we're throwing a surprise 40th birthday party for my l'il sister, Becky. We'll be grilling everything we have in our freezers. Chicken, brats, burgers, ribs, chorizo, venison, billy goat, and chipmunks. This will be my first big test. In my "fat" life I lived for days like this. Now I have to practice EXTREME moderation. Wish me luck.
