Not doing so good... Food sticking in my throat right now...
I am so glad I am not alone with this problem.
I am almost 4 weeks post-op. Last I had some ground turkey, which I have been eating for the past week with no problem. Last night , I had 2-3 bites and it felt like it was stuck in my chest. It was painful. Finally, I threw it up. After throwing that up, twice I had some water the threw that up too. Now I am afraid to eat or drink anything.
I spoke to my doctor this afternoon about what happened and he said not to worry. Sometimes it just happens. He said to take smaller bites and chew chew chew!
I agree you should probably talk to your doctor and let them know you are having this trouble.
But a couple of things I do when things get stuck is sip a little ho****er (or hot tea) to help ease it down. The hot liquid tends to melt it down faster and settle into my pouch. I also agree with everything Dave said, eat slower and chew more.
I hope you feel better soon.
Cheers!
hi clayton, my wls coach told me ( while i was have cows that i could still feel this gross 4 weeks out), that we have done something major too our bodies. when they sip and chew chew chew, they weren't kidding. she mentioned that you have good days and then bad days. and that not for atleast 8 weeks do you even begin to start a little bit of normalcy. now other people haven't expeienced this but i am also and you get sick of it. yesterday i ate chicken. today i had some and had the foamies. so it is all a matter of slow. slow. sip and chew. i don't like it much, but our comfort is worth it.
Clayton,
If you continue to have these feelings.... Call your doctor right away. I too had these feelings and thought that they were normaland would go away on their own.... WRONG! I had a stricture that had almost completely closed off. I had an endoscopy and the doctor said if I hadn't I would have ended up in the hospital. Let me know how you are and I will keep you in my prayers.
