No loss for 6 days...
and I am freaking out. I'm upset, angry, frustrated, depressed, irratated, etc. I don't get it. I knew plateaus would happen but at 5 weeks out????
I feel like I'm losing slowly.
surgery:274
week 1: 260 (-14)
week 2: 256 (-4)
week 3: 254 (-2)
week 4: 251 (-3)
week 5: 247 (-4)
And now I've been between 247.6 and 248.4 for 6 days!!!!!!!!! I can't take this this early. Seriously, I've cried all day long.
Help.
You've lost over 10% of your body weight in 5 weeks... that is awesome!!!! Most people join WW and stay in for months to achieve that. Don't get so down on yourself. WLS is a great tool but the weight doesn't fall off overnight. Here is a post I made a couple of weeks ago - still good advice. I have been losing 8-9 lbs per week. I am at -57lbs in 7 weeks, 2 days (but remember that I started out 80lbs heavier than you). GOOD LUCK!! You will get past this.

I am seeing a lot of "scale isn't moving" posts and I was there with you weeks 3 and 4. Week 5 I saw the NUT and she increased my protein goal to AT LEAST 80g. I am now up to doing between 80-90g and I am finally getting in the full 64oz of water and I have to say, now the weight is really coming off. I've gone down 6 lbs since last week and I have dropped almost 3 pants sizes. Pants that did not fit me last week are now too big. Besides protein, my calorie intake was 500-700 (most days around 550), now I'm up to 800-1000.
I know that it is counterintuitive, but adding in the 'good' calories actually helps. It makes a big difference. If you haven't been yet, I suggest going to your nutritionist. It sounds like a lot of people are on soups and beans and yogurts and stuff, which are good supplements - but things are going much better for me with chicken and fish and eggs as my main staples (firmer protein, chewed well).
Good luck to all. Everyone seems to be doing a fantastic job!! Stop worrying so much!
I feel your pain, old buddy.I post on the Mens forum frequently, and those guys drop weight in metric tons instead of pounds. They make my 4 or 5 pound a week average look weak.
All I can say is, relax. Take a deep breath, and remember everyone is different. You're losing weight. Not as fast as you expected, but your losing- that's a good thing. Maybe this is your "pace". There are some pluses to slow and steady. 1. Your skin has a chance to keep up. You may not suffer from saggy skin when you hit goal. 2. Hernias. You're less likely to develop one at a slow and steady rate of loss. 3. It's much less of a shock to your system, and I believe, healthier in the long run.
I know it's hard, but keep the faith. We ARE going to get there. Patience and perserverence are the key.

Hey Amber,
You have got to stop setting your expectations so high. You can't measure up when you are your own worst enemy. The normal expected weight loss for the lapband is 1 or 2 pounds a week and you have already surpassed that. The lapband is slow and steady and more healthy then some of the more drastic wls.
I lost 24 pounds since 4/17/06 and this morning I was up 2 pounds cause I am getting more then just liquids. I wasn't a bit surprised and I know it will all get better when I have my first fill and and get really disciplined with my food. In the beginning most of what you lose is fluid so it looks really nice on the scale.
Please don't beat yourself up. Who managed to get that weight off? You!!!! That's something to be very proud of. There are no miracles for us to get this weight off but we can do it. Remember the turtle and the hair? Slow and steady could be your new mantra.
It's ok to get frustrated too and even cry, but when you're done get back up and do what you've been doing. You are doing great, you just have to convince yourself now.
Take care and write whenever you need to,
Debbie
Hi Amber,
I also hit a plateu around this time as well. In fact, mine lasted for almost three weeks! I kept gaining and losing the same 5 pounds! What I did notice however, was the fact that my clothes were fitting a heck of a lot better! So, after coming to terms with not looking at the scale every morning, I decided to use my clothes as a gauge. i am happy to say I am no longer a scale addict! So, my advise is to drink more water, keep up your protein, and walk, walk walk! You will break that plateau before you know it!
yeah i hit the stall after losing 33 pounds in 4 weeks. then it started to drop again. my son is a doctor and he said that you really need to get the protien in. you think you are just eating too much, but your body has got to burn somethin and not think you are trying to starve it. he also suggest to drink your drinks over icer or cold. the body has to work also to warm it up. i don't know but i am trying it,
