Has anyone had problems with Insomnia since surgery. I suffered from it before but now it seems my sleeping pills don't do the trick anymore and I get so tired I hurt. My PCP called in Ambien and it just makes my groggy and feeling well drugged. I use to take Trazdone.

Brandy are you napping during the day? If so try not to. I know that helped me get over my insomnia. As much as I'm tempted to take a nap during the day I force myself not too. Then by 10:00pm I'm ready for bed and I sleep all through the night till 6:00am when I get up. If I'm really tired during the day I might set my alarm to take a power nap (15 to 20 minutes) and then wake up and get moving. It's just enough to get me through the day but not enough to effect my sleeping at night. Insomnia is a terrible thing to deal with I hope you're able to get it under control soon.

Even if I lay down and try to take a nap during the day I can not fall asleep. The first couple of weeks after surgery it was horrible being soooo tired and not being able to sleep. It's not as bad now that I don't want to take a nap. Now it's just night time that is bothering me.

try melatonin! If you get the stuff from gnc it is about 6.00 for 120 pills they do have a 60 pill too. get the 1mg sublingual. They work wonders and they are natural! I give them to my son who has autism and would not sleep and my daughter who just like to take them. It relaxes you so your body can settle down for bed. It is not a sleeping pill I would try 2 the first night. Good luck to you. Oh I have many older friends(not just kids) who swear by them!!! dee

I will look into that to see if it will react with anything else I take.

Your body may also be low on Magnesium. I was having problems sleeping because my legs were bothing me. I just couldn't seem to get them comfortable. I talked to my grandmother who said she started taking a magnesium pill twice a day because of the same thing (recommended by her doctor) and now she sleep wonderfully! I started it and it worked for me to!

Thanks for the idea. I will talk to my doctor and ask about magnesium levels.

I have the exact opposite problem. I always feel like I could use a nap, and would lay in bed 10 hrs. a night if I could. DD
