One monthers - how much are you allowed to eat now?

Ok, I've been curious about this for a few weeks. How much are we eating per meal at this point (one month post/op). I've usually been able to eat around 3-4oz over about '30. I notice things like string cheese are harder to get down without chewing very meticulously, but things like hummus or refried beans with FF sour cream and guac go down pretty smoothly. The reason I ask, is I'm having trouble getting over 800 calories per day and I understand that if I go below 1000 my weight loss could slow down. Seems odd that I'm having trouble eating enough to lose weight. Very annoying, but ironic!

I am 7 weeks now but at one month I was eating the same amount. I have been consistently around 4 oz or 1/2c. The difference I notice is that you don't seem to eat solid protein yet (chicken, etc.) which we are allowed in my program after day 14 (as long as it is moist and well-chewed). I personally, would not eat a string cheese alone because I know it would get stuck. I'd eat it with a SF jello cup or small yogurt or I eat a lot of cottage cheese. Also, I don't know how often you are eating, but I eat every four hours or I start to feel sick (except at night when I am sleeping of course). Are you doing a protein supplement each day? My shake gives me an extra 30g of protein and 200+ calories per day. I do them as my morning snack. My NUT says that if I am falling short at the end of the day to do a second shake. That may help. If you are having trouble with the shakes, I can give you some good recipes. Good luck.

I am only allowed to eat 3-4 oz. until I'm 6 weeks out. I can't handle anymore than that anyway. If you're having trouble getting your calories in........drink them! I don't know if you're a milk or juice drinker but a cup of milk or 100% fruit juice will add ya at least 100 calories and I ALWAYS do a daily carnation instant breakfast. Or they have Nesquick no sugar added if you like chocolate milk. I don't even count calories. Only concentrate on my protein at this point. When I'm like 6 months out......MAYBE I'll concentrate on calories but at this point, protein is on the top of my list. I do not even have a recommended calorie amount from my surgeon either. Allie

Sometimes I can't even get close to 600 calories. I rarely eat 4 oz in a sitting. I have started to make 1 shake with 4oz of yogurt and 4 oz milk with my protein. That helps with calories and protein. I find string cheese to be the easiest thing to eat because it just about melts in my mouth.I may look into the protein meal replacement bars, thathave about 200 calories a piece. Good luck Shar

I'm glad I'm not the only one able to eat that much. I was kind of getting worried. I can usually eat 3-4 oz, depending on what it is, although I sometimes have trouble in the early morning, then I have a hard time eating much of anything. Does anyone else have trouble then?

I eat about 3 oz per meal which is 3 times per day. I am allowed chicken, fish. No pork, beans or beef for a looooong time. I went and bought some calamari, scallops and other fish. I had the scallops yesyertday and they were yummy and very easy to digest. Not a lot of texture to gunk up. Calamari is a FAT FREE meat. Yippeee! Since I so little, the cost is actually very low. I am really having problems with my protein drinks. I noticed, not getting enough calories has really slowed down my weight loss. I am doing the best I can. I have been trying a variety of different proteins but my body wants it in food form not liquid now so it is a constant struggle. I did have problems with dizziness, nausea and pouch rebellion so my case might be different than yours.

Thanks folks - feel alot better about where I'm at. I need to add a couple of healthy snacks per day. I think it will be easier once I go back to work - at least there I can have a regimented snack break for some string cheese or something. PS - 900 cals today, 84g of protein!
