Afraid to Eat
Hi All
I'm venting here. I'm afraid to eat today. I threw up the first time last week with a stupid pill that got stuck. This week some turkey made me sick - I'm sure I ate to fast.
Last night I spent 2 hours throwing up - and I'm sure it was some bad chicken because I served myself 1 once black beans, and 1 ounce chicken. I ate 2 bites (super slow with LOTS of chewing) and it didn't taste good. This was cooked chicken I vacuumed sealed right before surgery. It smelled fine but just didn't taste good. I figured I must not like roasted chicken anymore. I had eaten some before I sealed it and it was great. I guess it went bad even though it was sealed, because I was so sick last night, could not even keep water down, and it was like being sick before, just more painful. The whole thing lasted 2 hours and the pain finally went away 4 hours after I had tried to eat.
I've thrown all the chicken away, and this morning so far I have been able to drink water and some tea, but I am so afraid to eat again. I know it will pass. It's definitely liquids and soft foods for a couple of days.
Don't get sick - it's bad!

I had my surgery 4 days after you and I'm not allowed to eat anything unless it's babyfood consistancy and no meat or raw veggies. I think if I was to try chicken right now.. it would me me sick to. Although I crave it! Maybe you just need more time healing? My doc said no 'real food' untill June 29th. *sigh* So I envy you guys that get to try the waters sooner then me. I hope you feel better soon!

Inky - sorry to hear you've gotten sick. I've thrown up a couple of times myself. The first time I mixed peanut butter with my oatmeal. Whoa Nelly...that didn't go over well at all. Another time, I had eaten PB from a spoon and then had followed it with refried beans, shredded chicken and cheese blended together...not pretty. I think I ate the beans, ckn, ch too soon after the PB. I can eat the PB by its self just fine, but when I mix it with stuff it doesn't work. I stayed away from chicken for a few days after that.
I would try peanut butter on a spoon, or boiled egg or baked or mashed potatoes. For me, after I get sick even my protein drinks or soups are intolerable so I have to have some type of soft foods.
Good luck and hang in there...at this point - every meal is an adventure!
Take care,
Tammy
