What do you use for on-the-go protein fixes?

I've been using cheesticks, puddings and jellos. But this means I must carry a lunchbag with ice packs to keep them cold. I feel like I have this lunchbag attached to my hip now. :>) What protein fixes do you use that don't require keeping cold? Wth 2 boys into sports - I'm always on a field somewhere...baseball, soccer or tennis. I need some dry, room temp snacks to keep on hand so I don't find myself without a healthy snack when I need it. Any ideas?

Someone else mentioned protein bars on another thread. I think that would probably be your best bet for a snack on the go that doesn't have to be kept cold. Just toss a couple bars in your purse and you're ready to go! I've also heard of beef jerky or smokey's.... but you have to be careful to chew these really well. Also, grab a can of V8 juice to go. They don't have to be chilled to drink and they have 2 gms. of protein in an 8oz can. I haven't reached this stage yet where I can eat protein bars or jerky... but I can't wait till I can. It will make it so much easier to eat on the go. Try products with soy in it... it's high in protein and some of the health food stores make crunchy soy snacks. Here are a couple of websites I found with some snack ideas (I just googled it)--- http://www.dietdirect.com/searchresult.aspx?CategoryID=21&gclid=CMHFz4q_l4wCFR6AWAodah9Q6Q http://quickweightloss.net/products.php?ref=highprotein&gclid=CN-ytr2_l4wCFRlmWAodVAGk7A Cheers!

I make a 20 oz glass of crystal lite with 2 scoops-(40 grams protien) unflavored Unjury protien drink if I know I am going to be away from the house for a couple hours and will be eating dinner late. Also have extra water in the car. Hope this helps!

Not there yet myself, but have been scouring the web for ideas. My fix will be dry roasted edamame beans (immature soybeans). They make salted and wasabi (hot) varieties. Sealpoint farms is the brand I bought - you get get them at snackaisle.com or search for dry roasted edamame beans online. Also, I think peanuts are a good source of protein - if you're allowed to have them. I'm just dying to get the ok to start meats. The most I've been able to get in the way of protein without meats has been about 10-12g of protein per meal - that, with two small snacks usually gets me to around 40g or protein per day - then I have to supplement with a protein shake before bed to make sure it's all there!

Hi Tammy, I really like the Laughing Cow Light cheese wedges. They come in French onion or Light Swiss, are individually wrapped, and they don't need to be refrigerated. Each one has 2.5 g of protein and they are very soft. Yum! Good luck, Lisa
