Is anybody back on regular foods?
I just had my Dr's appt today. I was on pureed foods for 4 wks. He said I could move to soft foods for a week (mashable with fork). As long as all goes well, I can move to solid foods in 1 week. I had somewhat already moved to soft foods over the last week...just couldn't fathom another blenderized meal. I've had shrimp, scallops, pasta, baked chicken black eyed peas, green beans and baked beans and all have settled OK. I am really careful about eating slowly and chewing it all to bits. It amazes me how in order to have a variety of foods on my plate and still maintain the 4-6 oz that I only get like a teaspoon of 2 veggies and a pc of chicken about the size of 2 fingers.......and sometimes I can't fini**** all. Or I have to reheat the food b/c it gets too cold before I can fini****
Best of luck with moving to your new phase on the journey!
I get to add cooked veggies and fresh fruit to my diet next Wednesday. I'm so excited to eat green beans - I can hardly wait! Other than that, I am only on soft proteins, but I haven't had much of a problem w/ them or chewing. I don't mash anything or use a processor (bad 1st experience), and I sometimes don't chew enough either, but I've been lucky to not have anything get stuck.
I would kill for a really big loud crunchy thing right now though - like a celery stick or ANYTHING that's not mush!
I'm pretty much allowed regular foods, so long as they're cooked relatively soft. no bread, pasta or rice till 9 months after surgery, which is like January or so. nothing tough or with lots of fiber like broccoli, etc. I've been eating salads (with lite dressing of course) which I was craving really bad. I just get the salad mix and put a little cheese and chicken or hard boiled egg on it, tastes so good right now. I'm trying to get as much protein in as I can. I'm supposed to slow down with the protein powder, but I kind of need it till I can eat enough to make up the difference.
Ok I am a popcorn freak too. Aren't we allowed to have a little variety in our lives? Just make sure you don't eat the whole bag. Portion it like you would your meals. Up here in BC Canada, I was asking when it would be Ok to eat popcorn again, in one of my other online support groups and was told 3 months out. Only 2 more months to go
