I'm Really Getting Bored with this diet
I have been following everything to a "TEE". I am starting to get tired of the protein drinks-after almost a month-who wouldn't?
Portions are so small (which is great!) but it makes it hard to fix something other than the same canned chicken, unsweetened applesauce, etc.
I am scared to fix things so I have myself on the plainest most boring diet ever conceived. I would appreciate some more suggestions. My diet is rather restrictive compared to some of yours. It doesn't help that I do not eat most of the vegetables allowed right now.
I have a post surgery class on Thursday so I will try and get info there.
I just figured this was the best place to post since we are such similar stages after WLS.
Thanks!
I'm not even allowed to have veggies yet, so I know what you mean. Do you eat seafood? I've found that cooking different fishes in a hundred different ways is the easiest for me. You can get fish by the slice in the seafood part of any store and just simple onion powder, salt and pepper or dill & lemon & pepper, or any combo of spices is great. I cook only for me, so everything goes into the toaster oven. don't forget seafood salad too. 1 cup of Crab and shrimp mixed in a processor, then mix 1 tbsp light mayo and 1 tbsp sour cream, sprinkle dill and parsley, and S&P to taste.
I know what you mean. Luckily I was a refried bean nut before surgery - so that's my usual lunch diet. Another recipe I throw in there is the Ricotta with Marinara and RF mozzerella. Not allowed meats yet here, so at least you've got that on my program. I can't wait until I can try a little tuna salad, or chicken salad.
Funny how we each have slightly different programs. I am NOT allowed beans yet. Dr said anything that contributes to gas production is not a good idea for me. Wish I could though.
I cannot have salsa either. Those veggies are after 6 weeks.
It gets hard because now the smell of what I have been surviving on is making me GAG!
When you can only eat about 2 TBS of food at a time, it just is so hard to cook. What do you do with the extra? If I reheat it then it's too dry and I cannot tolerate.
Glad i am not the only one.
This situation does not make me want to eat things I shouldn't. It just makes me feel like not eating at all and I know that's not good.
2 TBLS of food at a time? Is that your restriction, or the doctor's? My dietician said that 3-4 oz of food is ok, and I can do almost that - but no more. Must eat very slowly though, or feel really tight/stuck. I usually eat no more than 1/2 tsp per bite, a bite every minute or so - takes me about 30min to get 3-4oz in.
Odd that there's so much difference between programs. I know our program is modeled after the one at Bronson Hospital up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There's two other programs in the area - one in Elkhart and one in Holland, MI, I'm curious if they're on the same or different pages? Also, our program is moving toward being a "center of excellence", maybe that makes a difference too.
I'd lean more towards doctor's/dietician's preference though. Everybody has their own way I guess.
I do have the same problem. I pureed cottage cheese until smooth with a couple of ources of sf/ff pudding mix and split it into 8 small containers and that is a standard for me. Cottage cheese with italian seasoning, and basically liquids. I hate fixing food that I eat a bite of it and figure out either I can't handle it or I can eat a bit more then try to reheat with a cup of water in the microwave or trash.
