The First Time
Yesterday I had my first case of throwing up and it was not directly related to food, I don't think. I use a cup of V8 low sodium each mid-morning to take my 3 pills. The thicker consistency of the V8 is perfect, I love it and I get some veggies in that way. I also add a teaspoon of benefiber to help with the constipation problem. I have been doing this since May 2nd with great success.
I take 100 mg Atenolol, a Prilosec, and an unfortunately huge pill called Urso (for the prevention of gallstones - i have to take this for 6 months). I cut the Atenolol and Prilosec in half, and the Urso in quarters. I sip slowly and it takes me about half an hour to take them all. But yesterday, urg, the last 2 quarters of the Urso did me in.
I hadn't thrown up yet after surgery, and it was not painful, even though I was a little afraid of it. I felt great afterwards though, but was gun shy about eating much the rest of the day and stuck to liquids. So far today it's all good.
So, how have you all been doing regarding your "first time ?"
Inky
My first episode of vomiting was when I tried to eat the inside of a chicken taco.
We went out for dinner and I ordered a chicken taco with no lettuce, onion, or tomato.
So basically it was the chicken and some cheese.
Well, I ate about 1/2 of the insides and then I start feeling shakey and started sweating really bad. Then I felt nauseous and the next thing I knew, I was in the bathroom throwing violently. Needless to say, I have not been able to eat chicken since.
It sure made me feel better after I threw up though.
Hi Inky,
I am sorry to hear that you threw up on that Urso. I take the same type of medication(Ursodiol 300 MG Caplet) for 6 months too, but it is in the form of a caplet that is very easy for me to swallow. I highly recommend that you ask your doctor to see if he or she could prescribe it to you rather than taking that huge pill. The only thing is that you have to take it 2x/day which is not bad. I also take prilosec OTC for ulcer prevention and have to take that for 6 months as well.
So far I have not had an episode of vomiting(knock on wood) and hope to not have one. I have had plenty of times where I was nauseated a little bit, but that may have been just because I was eating too fast or something was too dry. Other than that I am doing great, still down about 20 lbs. Am starting to get a little discouraged about my weight stalling out after losing 20 lbs. Will have to just increase the walking.
I am glad to hear that you are feeling much better though today. Keep us posted on your progress!
