What are we eating???
I know the A team is at different stages, but let's compare and give suggestions.
I am on soft foods. I don't eat anything very interesting and I think I need some suggestions. My diet basically consists of hard boiled eggs with mayo, peanut butter, turkey burger, meat loaf from Boston Market (very moist ), mashed potatoes, yogurt with cheerios, toast, string cheese. That's it. To me, it doesn't seem like a very large list. Does anyone eat veggies? Pasta? Let's go A-team!!!!!!!!!
I'm only 19 days post op, but I'm on the transitional diet (so they call it). I can have pureed foods, no meats or veggies. I've been existing on Hummus, Ricotta w/marinara and lowfat mozzerella, Refried beans w/RF sour cream & RF cheddar, Edamame dip, Hard boiled eggsalad, yogurt (carb control), and an occasional spoonful of peanut butter. I tried a fried egg the other day - pouch was none to pleased, but kept it down.
How much are you eating now? My dietician has me limited to around 3oz, though I think I would have no problem with 4oz from how I feel when I'm done eating.
Keep on losing A-team!
i am eating fish yougart soups cheese oatmeal mashed potaotoes well potaoes anyway chicken kinda hard to eat .. if dry but put it in a soup i can get it down .. Fido get the crushed one not one that is coiled up but if the coiled up one is all u can get u can crushed it in the bag .. take 1 pkg 12 oz brown in very little hot oil i mean little keep stiring for about a minute or 2 this give the pasta flavor becareful not to burn it (u can add chopped onions if u like )
Once brown add water have water on the side as the pasta can burn real quick like I usually add approx 8 cups of water like u r cooking rice is how i judge how much water to use then I add one small can of tomatoe sause and salt to taste (secret to this pasta I add a couple of boullin broth here)then I let it cook down tell it gets thicker like oatmeal does .. about 20 mins keep stiring tho
all done and very easy to go down and yummy .. \
be well Lisa
Hi Peeps,
I just found out about this message board with folks who had their surgeries at about the same time.
I had the lapband too. I've been eating salmon, cottage cheese, cream of wheat, yogurt, mashed potatos, scrambled eggs with cheese. I ate a little bit of watermelon last night and it was yummy. I didn't eat too much cause I thought it might be too pulpy. Tonight we're having macaroni and cheese. I haven't had any problems with pasta but I haven't tried bread at all. I'm scared of having a bad reaction just cause of everything I've heard from other people. I haven't had any peanut butter either cause someone said that could plug you up. I guess you just have to test the waters and find out for yourself.
I can't believe Lisa tried filet mignon. I tried a piece of a chicken nugget after I picked the breading off. Maybe an 1/8 of it, it was so yummy. I haven't had a bad reaction to anything yet, knock on wood, and I'm hoping this is a good sign.
It's nice talking to all of you and hope to hear from you all.
Debbie
I'm still on a pureed/mush diet until this thursday, when I start "regular" food. so right now it's cottage cheese, ricotta with marinara, really smooth egg salad, refried beans, underwood chicken spread, deviled ham, soynut butter, protein drinks (blech!!), cream of wheat, V8 low sodium juice (good for pill taking). S/F popsicles are my lifesaver when I am feeling head hunger!!
I did try some avocado with my refried beans for lunch yesterday and it was delicious and went down great. A very nice treat.
I'm looking forward to adding some more substantial food day by day after thursday

Hi Dee,
have you had any throwing up? I have never. Last night after I ate 1/2 portion of kid's size meatloaf from boston Market I was full . For the first time I felt a real fullness. Somehow, I thought I'd feel it in my pouch only, but I felt it in my entire abdomen. Weird? I needed to sit quietly for a while, no movement or I'd get a bit nauseous. Are you still taking tiny bites? I am. I think for lunch today i am going to try an apple with peanut butter. I am scared to try pizza because of the bread. The only bread I have had is very well done toasted...and crackers go down very well. How's your energy level? Mine sucks.

I have not thrown up but I have eaten too fast and was very uncomfortable. With the pizza I had 2 bites with bread and it made me feel sick. I ate some of the toppings and it made me sick feeling as well. today I tried chicken salad 4 bites and 2 pieces of strawberry. For lunch I might try some turkey with fat free miracle whip. My energy is better yesterday I weed whacked and dug a hole. I do take small bites but I still sometimes forget to eat very slow. hows your b-12 levels? just take it slow remeber you had 8 hours of surgery!!! and a revision!! take it easy.
