Hi, I had RNY on 4/16, and am not really losing weight, I've stayed pretty much where I was pre-op. I don't know what to do. I'm getting in all my protein, and I walk every day. If this surgery doesn't work for me, then I don't know what I'm gonna have to do. I know the weight doesn't just magically come off, but I'd like to see some kind of change.

Wynette keep your spirits up and just keep doing what you are doing the inches are probably coming off and sometimes takes time for the weight to catch up. Just sip, sip,sip and walk, walk walk and get that protein in as much as possible and keep a food diary. You can do it we believe in you and are here for you. Take care Robert

Make sure you are getting all of your liquid in also. If not your body holds onto that. I have only lost 15 lbs since surgery and I know that is a lot slower than others. Keep your hopes up and don't lose the faith. It will help. Also if you are stuck in a rut with the walking, try a different exercise for a couple of days.

Don't despair! The first week after surgery I watched the scale move upward every day. I knew that could happen from swelling and retaining water, but it was still very depressing. Then it started coming off -- 35 pounds of it so far! Your's will start coming off also. How about the inches? I could feel it in my clothing way before I saw it on the scale. Hang in there. This does work!

I don't really know about the inches, my clothes have always kind of fit loose, I bought them that way. It's gonna be awhile I think before i notice that. I know how you feel about gaining after the surgery, I did on my first post-op visit and almost had a breakdown, but I was probably retaining water like you said, cuz I do that anyhow. I got the scale back down off the shelf yesterday and saw that I had lost like 3 lbs in a week or so, so maybe I'll be ok. I totalled up my protein today, and I'm getting between 40-50 grams in a day, so I think I'm ok with that. I'm still working on my liquids though, I try to drink as much as I can, but sometimes I feel waterlogged. any ideas?
