Nyquil No No
What was I thinking???
Ok, so my hubby went back to work on Monday and when he came home brought a bunch of well wishes from his fellow soldiers AND a cold!
Tuesday- I wake up with the signs that its about to hit me. My nose is runny, throat kinda sore, a slight cough and a tickle in my throat .
Yesterday- Cough is a little harder, nose is stuffy and my head is a mess so I take some childrens cold medicine and start to feel better.
4am this morning- I couldnt sleep for anything so I decide to drag my butt to the bathroom to take something. Not thinking I grab the Nyquil take a nice size swallow from the included "cup" and start to cry- it hurt SO bad. Thats when it hit me- Nyquil has alcohol. I was told no alcohol of anykind for at least 6 months including cold and flu meds. My stomach was BURNING so bad. So I damn near crawl to my bed and my poor husband doesnt know what to do. He just keeps reminding me that my doctor said that my "new" stomach was about the size of a newborns so he's scared that that nice size swallow of Nyquil just messed me in the worst way- and he was right!
About 3 minutes after I crawl back into bed he's telling me that maybe it will just make me feel better quicker- oh no that would be too easy, instead I felt drunk off my @ss! This morning he calls me to check on me and when I woke up to answer the phone I felt so hungover! He told me I was slurring my words and then just passed out in minutes. I feel like such a dumb ass. So to all my fellow WLS'ers- THROW OUT THE NYQUIL! Stick with the kiddie meds. Take it from the still partially hung-over me.....
omg, i am so sorry!! but thank you so much for sharing this. I have been so afraid to do something out of habit when it comes to meds and food, I am going to put all the no-no meds in another closet!!!!
i sure hope you are feeling better soon, and for colds I like Zicam Nasal swabs (zinc being the main ingredient, which is okay for us as far as i know). It beat 2 colds this past winter for me, and I always keep a box in the house.
