Hi Crystal, My doctor took my off of depo due to the possiblity of gaining weight when I'm trying to loose it! She put me on a pill called loestra? something like that. Anyway, it supposdly doesn't make you gain any weight because of the low estrogen and your periods are either 1-2 days or none at all. I haven't started them yet but my surgeon said they were fine to take. I'd talk it over with your surgeon and ob/gyn.

It's been a very long time since I had to worry about birth control, but my daughter in law used to use something called a nuvaring. It is inserted and sits up against the cervix. You put it in once a month, leave it in for 3 weeks and remove it for 1 week. During that 1 week out is when you would have your period. She liked it because she couldnt take the pill. Hope that helps Cindy

I've never used any form of birth control.... obvisiously, thus the reason I have 9 children! LOL! But I am done having children and I certainly don't want to risk getting pregnant so I am pushing hubby to go get the snip, snip! LOL! But if that doesn't work I will have to look into something else so this thread has been helpful! Thanks ladies for all your input! Cheers!

I take Depo and my surgeon didn't seemed concerned at all that I would gain any weight, his main concern was just that I was taking something....personally I love Depo, not having a period is wonderful. And not having babies is even better. ;)

I have the iud. It is awesome and good for 5 years it doesn't cause weight gain or use hormones. It sits in your uterus and if you decide to want to have a baby, they just take it out and you can get pg in the first year. It is also very effective!!

I have to add that the iud is not a form of abortion!! I am pro life and that is just plain not true. It sits in your uterus which makes it inhabitable! It also keeps the sperm from even meeting with the egg! If they dont meet how is that abortion?? I don't even get a period! ok just my 2 cents on that dee

I'm going to be using Seasonale. the pills are so small, they will dissolve and be absorbable. Not to say that people that have had gastric bypass don't get pregnant when they're on the pill, but I trust that it will work for me. I WILL not use an IUD. It's just another form of abortion to me and the Nuvaring.......I just don't feel comfortable using that one either. Someone I know got pregnant using it. then there is the patch but you have to be like 190 pounds or under to use it. Good luck. Hope you find something. Allie
