How much can you drink at 1 week post op?
I'm curious to see what others are experiencing. At first I could barely get an ounce down at a time, now it seems that if it's h2o, I can drink around 2 oz without evenfeeling it? I'm pretty certain nothing's wrong, but shouldn't it be harder only one week out? Or, maybe since it's water, it goes right through. The same goes for broth, and even creamed 98% ff soups - again liquids. I feel fine otherwise, burping, moving bowels, gas etc. - no temp or elevated pulse - so I don't think I'm leaking, but just curious why liquids are so easy?
Any ideas?
Liquids just go right through. You can essentially drink an ounce of fluid every 15 seconds. If it something thick like a protein shake, you may have to sip it slower. I can get an 8 oz. carnation instant breakfast down in 5 -10 minutes. Also your "feeling" i your pouch won't come back for quite some time so it's harder to "feel full."

Vegas, don't worry about the fact that you can drink more than the others. All that means is that you don't have as much swelling in your new pouch and system as they do.
I had been worried about something similar and the doctor reassured me at my checkup that 1) swelling decreases differently in everyone and 2) every body is different, but not to worry!
Thanks all for the support - it's good to hear from other post-op pro's.
On another note, anyone been craving something, anything solid! Mostly when my wife and daughters are eating. I don't really crave things like pizza and burgers, but I would kill for a nice chicken breast and refried beans covered in salsa...... I guess that will come in time (weeks for the beans, months for the chicken).
I must say, it's been a challenge to fix dinner for the family and not be able to taste some of it! The other night I made a big honey glazed ham with homemade scalloped potatoes & asparagus.... and I couldn't have any of it! Well, not unless I blenderized it to death, but ugh that thought didn't appeal to me. It's hard smelling all these wonderful aromas wafing through the house, like chocolate chip cookies baking, buttered popcorn, McDonald's, and not be able to taste it. LOL! Oh well, it will be worth it in the end!
Cheers!
