GAS???

Good Morning all!! I had lapband on 04/23/07. I am 9 days out & so uncomfortable. I don't know what to do. I am at the point where I don't want to eat or drink for fear that the GAS will come back. Its in my chest, stomach, & back!!! I am eating slower, chewing more, & gulping less. I started to sip thru a straw to cut down on the gulping. I have heard that straws were not good but my nurse says it is better than drinking from a cup. I sit up at least an hour before going to bed. It seems as if whatever goes down, comes right back up through my chest & throat too. No vommiting or nausea just gas bubbles. Is this another type of indigestion? I used to have acid reflux all the time, now that doesn't happen but the indigestion or gas does. Will this go away? How can I stop it or ease the discomfort???

walk walk walk walk walk ... that will help your body absorb the gas. I also take a GasX strip before bed and it helps me sleep. ;)

I'm a Gas-X fan myself and I live on the stuff. It sure has prevented me from getting much gas. I have a little rumblings & some burping but no pain with it. Hope things get better for you Dionne! Cheers, Lisa S.

the gas-x strips have helped me, but what I really notice is I MUST WALK after I "eat." No doubt about it, that helps. I sip my broth, eat my jello, popsicle, whatever (thank god i start mushy food tomorrow!) and must walk, even if it is just up and down the hall of my house. if I sit or lay down after I eat, I'm done for. try that and let us know how it goes! That sounds like gas to me also...but try the gas-x and if that does not help you might want to check with your doctor...you may be having some acid reflux problems still.. but it might not be as bad because you are not eating as much....I hope that we helped you some.

Try a Dulcolax suppository for immediate relief, that is what I was given in the hospital, even though I walked and walked until it came to a point where the nursing staff had to come find me. Walking does help but sometimes you must go to something else.
