Exercise anyone??
I know that some of us are further out than others and may be ready sooner.... but I thought it might be good to start like a daily exercise round-up on this board. I am now four weeks out and I have started doing my walking - but I am not doing as much as I should. And from my understanding the exercise makes or breaks this whole thing and keeps us from hitting those dreaded plateaus! I know that I could use some accountability!
So, what did you do today to get moving?
I haven't done anything yet because I'm still at work
But yesterday, I walked a little over 2 miles on a forest preserve trail b/c the weather here was beautiful. Its a start.
Let me know if anyone else is interested and I would be happy to post the daily exercise round-up (now that I hide in my office and pretend to eat lunch)
I am still in the strolling the house stage. I still have my G-tube but the main reason is because I'm still on the pain meds. Hopefully after my follow up on Wednesday I can get started walking around the neighborhood. I can't wait to get back in the gym but I guess that won't be til the tube is gone. Oh and I can take a :bath:
 to everyone who has already gotten started.
Does clicking a remote count as exercise?????????? LOL I have no energy yet but i am just trying to do some light house work .No lifting for 6 weeks ugh. I am still out of breath but i was told to wait 6 weeks with my hiatial herna to do some exercise and I can have sex in 2 more weeks.
be well Lisa
Lisa,
I'm with you on the remote exercise. Reading what everyone else is doing just blows my mind. I am lucky if I can walk for 7 minutes on my treadmill,,,,,very slowly. I, too , had complications and my progress is a lot slower. I still have pain and discomfort and I wonder when I will really feel better. I sure hope we get there soon

Great idea Jessica! I was wondering how soon did everyone start exercising after their surgery? I'm not sure I have the energy to walk even a mile... but maybe a 1/2 mile... who knows. I just can't seem to shake this tired feeling. Plus, I'm dealing with an injured knee that is preventing me from getting around as well as I'd like to. I'm able to walk on it but not for a long time. It tends to swell & ache if I'm on it too much. This darn knee injury! Anyway, I would love to start some other excersices at home...maybe lifting weights or something.
Cheers,
Lisa S.
I was doing really well walking when I was staying in the hotel in Scottsdale, where I had surgery. I walked around the pool (abt 1/12 of a mile) around 5 - 10 times every 90 minutes, to keep the blood flowing. Today was my first day back home in Vegas and I just couldn't get it going, so finally I said, I'm going to go walk around TARGET (brilliant).
Probably a good idea for the walking part of it, since I went up and down every isle, even the toy isle and I have no kids.
However, I will caution you and anyone else who attaches to this hair-brained idea - leave your purse at home and only take enough to buy water if you need it! I spent $259. Oops.
I guess it will get better w/ planning. I actually logged quite a bit of walking though. That's a painful trade-off, but tomorrow will be better.
