very discouraged with lap band
I am so upset this morning i been living off this protien diet and drinking my fluids low cal and i get on the scale this am thinkling i should be down and i gained 2 lbs.. what is up with that ?????????????
I know i started my period and it's early early but dammit being on 600 calories a day for weeks i should be down more than 5 lbs from my surgery on april 18 ..
I am so frustated .. did i make a mistake not choosing a RNY ????????????
Sorry to ramp and rave but gaining 2 pounds after wls REALLY got to me this am but still i should at least stayed the same .. one would think.. NOT GAIN
I WILL NOT GET MY FIRST FILL TELL 6 WEEKS POST SURGERY GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...
Sorry to go off like this but I had to get this off my chest .. I'm failing already I feel like such a failure .. already..
If it makes you feel better, I had an RNY and as of yesterday have still only lost 8lbs. I'm trying to keep positive but I have to wonder what I am doing wrong. Is this another diet I suck at? You are totally not alone in feeling like a failure. I keep wondering when I will have that real *wow* moment.
On the good side - things HAVE to get moving, its just slower than I thought. And another good thing - I'm losing inches - I can tell it in my jeans.
Don't give up yet, on you, or on your band. We are still in the baby stage of this - we need to give ourselves time to adjust. Throw your scale out the window too.
LIsa, your cycle will cause you to retain water. So that is probably the 2lbs. Plus the band is suppose to help you lose weight in small amounts steadily. If you were banded on the 18th, you should only be down 2-3lbs at this point. Also, if you havne't had a good BM since surgery, that could be a reason for the weight gain. Its ok. You just had surgery. Your body will catch up. Don't look at the scale again until atleast friday. You might be surprised when you get closer to the end of your cycle that it was all from mother nature. ((((HUGS))))
I also gained about 2 weeks out...I think it is when your body is in starvation mode it started to hold everything even water... No you are not failing.....It will come off...trust me...Your body is healing...I know you are tired of hearing that...but soon your weight will drop again....Everyone goes through this...
Hi, I am not an April person, I was banded 3/5/07, but I drop by from time to time. Anyway, the first six weeks are for healing, it is not uncommon to not lose weight or even to gain a few pounds. Also like some have already said your body can be in starvation mode with so few calories. It will get better. You are not a failure.
well i must be in starvation mode .. but does it ever end? or am I gonna be fat forever ...
I am pretty down .. but ty all for some encourgement .. I really need to hear from some more fellow lap banders I know u guys are out there and thanks to the RNY and lap band people who did reply ..
Is this normal?
or am i going 5150 already?
Lisa (not a loser yet) just a failure
Lisa, I was banded on the 19th...I have lost but not near the amount that I would have liked........I just started back on my protein shakes and don't advance to pureed foods until this next Friday (I can't wait!!!).
Please have patience....you are not a failure!!!!! As for having your period....that can make a big difference on your weight...but it is only temporary. Maybe you should take a day off or two from weighing yourself...I know I am obsessed with it.....I shouldn't even have a scale but there it is right in my bathroom...It's very depressing to step on it at night...then I do find that I have gained and of course I feel the same way you do.....how in the world could you gain when you are only on less than 600 calories?
Give your body time to heal.....we went through this for a reason and that reason is to lose weight......but it takes time. Hope you had a better day today..I went back to work..It was brutal. I got spoiled sitting around all day and watching my favorite shows. Take care.......Marcy
